@Joey425 - If the screen of your smartphone or tablet has stopped working, there are a few solutions that you can try to still view the display and use the device as long as it is powered on. To be able to move or copy content, such as contacts or media files from your device to a computer, your device must be unlocked. So, if you use a screen lock on your device, you may be able to unlock the screen lock using one of the methods described below, and then connect your device to a computer to save the content. Depending on the extent of damage to the Xperia™ device, the solutions given to the scenarios described below might not work.
The screen doesn't react to touch, but you can view what's on it
You can navigate your device using a USB mouse. You need:
a USB mouse
a USB Host/USB OTG (On-the-Go) adapter cable
To navigate an Xperia™ device using a USB mouse
Attach the USB Host adapter cable to your Xperia™ device.
Connect the USB mouse to the USB Host adapter cable. The mouse pointer should appear in the display.
Navigate your device using the mouse.
The screen doesn't display anything (it's black) but the touch functionality might still be working
You can mirror the display of the Xperia™ device on a TV. You can then navigate the device by touching the broken screen or by using the TV remote control. If the TV supports MHL input, you need the following:
an MHL cable
If the TV supports HDMI™ input, you need the following:
an HDMI™ cable
an MHL to HDMI™ adaptor, for example, the Sony IM750.
Note! MHL and HDMI™ cables and adaptors are sold separately.
To view content from an Xperia™ device on a TV which supports MHL input
Connect your device to the TV using an MHL cable. The TV displays the screen of your device.
To navigate the Xperia™ device, touch the screen of the Xperia™ device or use the the navigation keys on the TV remote control.
To view content from your device on a TV which supports HDMI™ input
Connect your device to an MHL adaptor and then connect the adaptor to a USB power supply.
Connect the adaptor to a TV using an HDMI™ cable. The TV displays the screen of your device.
To navigate the Xperia™ device, touch the screen of the Xperia™ device or use the the navigation keys on the TV remote control.
