Yesterday I purchased a brand new Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra from a privately owned Freedom Store (B, 1601 Centre St NW, Calgary, AB T2E 2S2). Upon first inspection of the phone at the front counter I noticed no defects whatsoever, but after I checked it out again in my car (my wife was with me and saw this happen) I noticed a small hairline crack in the plastic housing of the device. I talked to the sales rep and he told me there is nothing he can do, and he can't return it because it is damaged and told me I should contact SONY. I contacted SONY and I was told I cannot be helped and the phone HAS to be returned to the store I purchased it from, I called Freedom Mobile Customer Support and they told me they also cannot help me and I must return it to them. The store refused to return or exchange it and now im stuck with a fresh out of the box cracked phone. Im not sure if the salesman knew if it was broken previously and he tampered with it and put stickers on to make it look new, or if it's a manufacturer defect, but in the end, I, the customer am being screwed over. I am contacting you in a last-ditch effort to see if you can help me out somehow, or if you can do something against this particular business for treating me unfairly. I will be contacting my local mp, my mayor, all corporations involved (to the highest levels of management possible), the government and all applicable agencies about this (including the BBB, Fraud center, etc.), including local media outlets and everyone I can possibly think of, including posting on corporately owned Facebook pages, Twitter pages, Instagram pages etc as well as my own personal ones, until someone can take responsibility for this wrongdoing. I purchased this phone on March 14, 2018 and legally I have 14 days to return this product in the same condition in which I purchased it in, which I have complied with. In the end, all I want is what I paid for, a NEW phone.
