My Xperia XZ, Android Oreo and I ...and please forgive me my poor English!!! Once upon a time... no - it was exactly seven days ago when my brand new Sony Xperia XZ arrived: It's my christmas gift to myself and I was sooo happy when I opened the parcel. The experience I made in the week after I got "my Sony" was really great and I cannot say only one bad word about this smartphone. Maybe I do not expect much or it's just that the worst new smartphone is always better than my old one. So, one night and one day were enough to fall in love with my new "partner". When I used the camera the first time it was clear: The XZ is the best smartphone in the world. You cannot imagine how proud and happy I was... ...till Saturday, Nov. 11th. Yesterday. My telephone - connected to the computer - showed me a message like "There is a new Updata available for..." and I thought "Wow, maybe you will have Android 8 tonight..." and pressed "okay". - 45 minutes later the Android Man was still turning the wheel in his stomach and I was smiling when I said to myself: "Lineage OS on the Galaxy S4 mini is updating faster :-)" After an hour my smile disappeared, realizing my brand new Xperia is captured in a boot-loop. It took three hours, lots of Google recherches and a whole paket John Players till I found - I guess by accident - the way to reset my telephone to factory defaults. But these factory defaults suddenly were: Android 8. Not one of the solutions I found in the internet solved my problems. At the end it was a mixture of all I found and a lot of luck. Today I read all the posts in this subject here and about the issues after upgrading. It seems, it's not possible to make a normal update to Oreo - OR - after the update the phone doesn't work well. I started with a complete clean system and re-installed my personal apps and I must say: The Xperia XZ is the best smartphone in the world. For me Everybody's waiting for Oreo - me included. Now it's here, but nothing really changed. Good night everybody
