Re: Email 4.0.1 "Waiting for sync" on corporate Exchange/Activesync

My input may be too stupid but just hoping it would help you narrow down the root cause.

While configuring the e-mail client displayed a message based on the security policy that all device cameras will be disabled.

But when I manually navigated to settings -> apps -> all apps, I found that I'm able to disable the Camera application but not the 3d camera application. I'm not sure if 3d camera application cannot be disabled only in ICS. Because the security policy worked when I was using the Gingerbread.

What I think is, the email client tries to disable this 3d Camera application, but it fails and it tries indefinitely to disable this application based on the security policy.

Re: Email 4.0.1 "Waiting for sync" on corporate Exchange/Activesync

I called Sony Ericsson Hong Kong (I really want to show to public how they answer my email enquiry):

From Sony Ericsson 13 May 2012

<<span style="color: #000000; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri;">Thank you for contacting Sony Xperia Support, your question has been registered and the reference number is 92908155.

Sony Xperia Support will come back to you with a response ASAP.

For future emails concerning this case please include the following line in the message:

92908155>

From Sony Ericsson 14 May 2012

<<span style="color: black; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Times New Roman;">Thanks for using Sony Xperia Support email service.

According to your inquiry, we suggest that you remove Microsoft® Exchange ActiveSync® (EAS) account, and then go to settings > wireless & networks > mobile networks > access point names > new APN > Name (internet) >APN(internet) > save.

Please refer to settings > Accounts & sync > add account > Exchange ActiveSync > setup again.

In addition, we also suggest that you contact your IT department to adjust exchange server or you can degrade to Android 2.3.4 if Exchange 2010 is strongly needed currently.

If you have any further enquiry, please feel free to contact us again.
Thanks again for your email.>

My feeling is, they are not well prepared to help their customer, especially Corporate customer.

Re: Email 4.0.1 "Waiting for sync" on corporate Exchange/Activesync

Hi Johan,

10 days since last update.

Can you update us on this issue?  What is being done to get this working?  Has Sony been able to replicate the error in their lab?  Is anyone working on this?

Thanks,

Sony Xperia Support

It's still being looked at and yes, we have been able to replicate the problem. As I posted before, I will get back to you all as soon as I have more information about this.

Thanks for your patience.

Re: Email 4.0.1 "Waiting for sync" on corporate Exchange/Activesync

Android 4.0.4 is coming up and as I understand this version will contain optimizations for the Exchange client in the phone. More info about the update here: http://blogs.sonymobile.com/products/2012/05/25/update-on-ice-cream-sandwich-rollout-for-xperia-smar...

Let me know if you guys still have problems after the update.

Re: Email 4.0.1 "Waiting for sync" on corporate Exchange/Activesync

Appreciate the update, and applied it right away.

Unfortunately, the problem remains, no improvement Slightly frowning Face

("Waiting for sync -- synching" keeps showing)

Sony LT18a

Android 4.0.4

Build 4.1.B.0.431

Email 4.0.1

Exchange Services 4.1

So what was changed? Winking Face

Another colleague, with a Sony Ray, reported the same issue today, also with 4.0.3 and 4.0.4.

Updated to the latest SW.

Exchange mail seems to be working.

GPS indicator runs endlessly and drains the battery.  Slightly frowning Face

Any thoughts on the GPS?
