Does the camera lens look in anyway strange, not centered, symmetric or other thing that come to mind when you look at it? So to exclued bad build or mounting issues? What I mean it's strange most photos look good when turning phone up-side down, if the lens were broken the blur should occur on right top corner.

No the lens seems fine to me, not sure if the blur happens on the right if i turn it upside down though. Will need todo some testing.

The fact that some are reporting this in 4:3 mode (when it won't be using the extremity of the lens) and that the problem goes away with the phone upside down is quite interesting. be good if those with devices can post photos of the same scene in 16:9 and 4:3 with the phone both ways up (8mp and 21/23mp compare might be good too). Might shed some light on if there is some lens compensation algorithm at work here screwing up the focus.

Camera lense looks fine, when turning the phone 180 degrees, the blur 'moves' to the bottom right corner, with top left corner being sharp - there are photos documenting this in the previous posts. This leads me to believe it is indeed hardware issue, and not software related.

I've just been out to test and it appears that the issue is apparent if i keep the phone the normal way round and also upside down (so the issue appears to stick to the same side of the lens).

https://goo.gl/photos/hmXE6PmFUSHh7rdz6 - upside down with blur on the right
Also happens in 4:3 (i didn't think it did before, but when i take a photo from far enough away and with enough detail in the sides i can see it)

I'm simply going to exchange it for another to see if a new one fixes it.. will see how it goes.

Redfern: thanks for the photos. Your images confirm the problem is hardware defect. This is troubling :-( hopefully this is a QC issue and not a inherent defect in the design. My phone should arrive in the next few days and It'll be going back if I see these issues.
Pitty that Sony are having these issues as they are the only manufacturer that are making high-spec devices that are a sensible size! Here's to hoping that Samsung eventually roll out a S-series "mini" with decent specs.

I just received a Z5c (revision 2) in Sweden, and I have the left hand side blur as well, both in 16:9 and 4:3.
This is an 8MP photo, which clearly shows the top left blur. Compare the edge of the garage roof from left to right ...
The next photo was taken with the phone flipped 180. Blur is on the right hand side instead ...
I bought the Z5c purely on the assumption that it would provide an improved camera compared to my old faithful Z1c. I'm really disappointed, this kind of blurring is totally unacceptable on a premium phone.
I'll try calling Sony support tomorrow, but judging by the other responces in this thread so far, I don't hold out much hope. Looks like I'll be returning the phone for a refund, which will be a real shame, as otherwise the Z5c is an amazing phone.

YES, yours looks excellent and as I would expect from a flagship Z5C. There's got to be some manufacturing defect on the other ones with the bad blur. There's very slight blur at the very edges, but that's what I expect. The blur shouldn't be anywhere near the middle of the picture.
You got lucky my friend.
