Mine did that too. Spoke to one of the 'techies' at work about it. He suggested back it up and do a factory reset after every software update. I upgraded to an xz premium and did a factory reset to give the z5 to the wife. All issues disappeared so it works - do a factory reset.

Re: Xperia Z5 Battery drain After Updating to Nougat 7.1.1

Update: I booted into safe mode and phone was fine.  I noticed several apps updated to fix scrolling and creating issues. I rebooted to normal and is running great. So either something cached got cleared up from the safe mode boot or one of the apps that updated was the issue. Working great now though.

Re: Xperia Z5 Battery drain After Updating to Nougat 7.1.1

I'm not an expert, but I'm very inclined to say that the device heat issues are caused by the changes in Security Policies during updates - and some devices might be lucky where it has upgraded without any problems - and some devices might not have.

I can observe significant temperature differences between my devices when I was testing building a recovery image for the Z5C - and was messing with the Android SELinux and making some custom boot images for myself. Or doing some stuff like cloning NFC/Android Pay services from previous backups and Bluetooth pairing set ups with Unified Remote.

What happens if you boot into safe mode?

Tried factory reset but it didn't worked. Instead using hibernate option in "Clean Master" improved the battery life a bit. (Say by 4-5 hours). The app comes as Sony default app after reset.

I'm experiencing the same problem. I bought this phone recently because of renowned battery life but since the last update that's definitely the WORSE phone I've ever had in this regards.

This must be looked at by Sony engineers because or at least give us a solution to rollback to the previous update.

Re: Xperia Z5 Battery drain After Updating to Nougat 7.1.1

What worked for me

Settings./more./mobile networks./preferred network types./wCDMA only.

Set to wcdma only since doing this it is the best my phone has ever been .when I pull it out of my pocket it is cold and battery use is low. I do not have to use stamina mode anymore.

The veriations between phones could be because of the difference in providers (different SIM cards)?if the settings com from the SIM card . Just a guess.

The slowness in the phone comes from the heat.

Find out what is making your phone hot.

My phone was at its worst just after charging or extended use

Hope this helps
