Re: Update problem

6 times is shocking! What with all battery life?

I spoke with a manager today but the results still the same, I've sent it back!

Says on the paperwork they replaced the battery, he mentioned from his records they have changed some hardware on the motherboard relating to charging as well.

He says there's no way they should downgrade it! Well they have, a lot!! 5.1.1.

I'll see you in a fortnight phone ie Sony's 3-5 days!!

Re: Update problem

First time was the screen gave up on me, the other 5 for battery, although once was for battery and because on an earlier repair they had left bits of dirt inside the the camera, which ment I couldn't take photos, so I sent it back and they changed the the mainboard, but this did nothing for battery life. I didn't want to, but Sony said I should send it back and they would change the mainboard, again, I explained I didn't think it would make a difference, they had my phone for the best part of two weeks, I only got it back after complaining about the delay, and when it got back to me the rubber seal that makes it water and dustproof is sticking out like a little aerial, when I sent an email to say I wasn't happy about this, I just got a generic "send your phone back to our convenient repair centre" email, it's been an absolute joke, Sony just don't seem bothered about sorting it out.

Re: Update problem

Well I'm pleased to say the phone has been returned.

So now new battery, and the manager i spoke with said they'd changed some charging hardware as well!

They have now upgraded it from Ver 5 to a newer firmware 32.4.A.1.54. (7.1.1) Which I think was only released a week ago.

I've only had a day with it so far so too early to say what difference it's made, but already 'battery idle' is high on the usage list. Pretty much on my own now warranty ends 22/10/17.

But I'm pleased no seals sticking out, or signs of damage.

Fingers crossed

Re: Update problem

I think it's safe to report no improvement, despite the battery change or firmware upgrade.

So no sending it for repair doesn't seem to help. (I promised to report back)

I've read loads online and other phone brands have similar issues. But Xperia phones do seem the most affected.

I remain optimistic that I'll fnd the solution,

Trying smart WiFi toggler at the minute, seems to do what stamina used to (location based WiFi), see if that helps.

Seems to work well, as for battery saving too early to tell.

I'll report back once If I find a solution

OK I kinda feel like I'm typing in here to myself these days lol, but this may help someone 😁.

As you can see above from the predicted discharge path, (dotted line) to the current one I made progress, 😎. Used the phone a bit in the middle but you can clearly see a much flatter line.

Although I tried this before it's mention elsewhere it didn't work before. It seems to have now. . .

A fresh install of android 32.4.A.1.54.

Disable Media Creator (this is NOT enough)

You have to reset into safe mode (press hold power button, then press and hold on shutdown),

Restart phone.

Done 😀,

This is mentioned all over forums but didn't work for me until now!

I have Location on high, WiFi on, Bluetooth on etc.

Hope this helps someone, if it doesn't last I'll report back as ever.

Re: Insane battery drain for nougat

I just acquire a XZ Premium with Oreo 8.0.0 and compared with my Z5, battery life is really awsome, @Z5, from 7:00 am till 0:00 battery status is less than 15% (sometimes charging), with XZ, the same interval of time and battery life is at 50-60%.... something is failing with nougat!!! By the other way (and is theme of another post) Swiftkey is a piece of crap!

Turn Google bull**bleep** off, and get rid of Facebook...  You can go really crazy too

Maps and Nearby are key apps to restrict internal app settings, next is youtube, hangouts, photos and other junk

my z5 compact also joined the club over here ... i almost disabled and removed all apps ...

and all intellegent features...

still also tried stamina mode, airplane mode , safe mode

the phone drains 20-30% in th night from phone idle .

this is shame on @sony
