No Key or Keystroke for Delete?

We all know how handy the Delete button on a Windows keyboard is-yes, that button the right of the

"\" button. It's sort of like the reverse of the Backspace key. You use Delete to erase text to the right of the cursor, like when you're typing an email and want to remove a few characters so that the line of text you then want to keep that's on one line will move up neatly right below the line above it. I looked in the Z3 manual but no info about any such functionality.

Re: No Key or Keystroke for Delete?

Hi @tyner, let me see if I can help out here.

I am afraid that there is no function or key available in the Xperia Keyboard enabling you to delete the text to the right of the cursor. The backspace key is the only key available on the keyboard that is able to erase text and as you mention, it is only able to erase text to the left of the cursor.

You are however able to move the cursor around in the text by tapping and holding your finger down on the text where you want to place the cursor.

It may not be the answer that you wanted, but i hope that this answered your question!

Re: No Key or Keystroke for Delete?

Thanks Martin but I don't see why the Android OS or the Sony hardware should lack this funtionality. As it is those point and tap moves are tedious and silly. All it probably takes is for Android and/or Sony to write a line of code or so in a downloadable upgrade to make this happen.

Re: No Key or Keystroke for Delete?

Worst case, they could code the upgrade where first hitting one key like # or / and then hitting another key like - or ! would enable delete. Surely they can think of a quick and easy solution.

Re: No Key or Keystroke for Delete?

I do understand the area of use for such a function and it is a great suggestion, @tyner. However, as i mentioned, I am afraid that the function in question does not exist in Xperia Keyboard.

There may exist other keyboard apps in Play Store that has this ability. Keep in mind though that we cannot guarantee 100% compatibility with apps made by a third party.

Re: No Key or Keystroke for Delete?

I went to https://play.google.com/store/search?q=keyboard%20%22delete%20key%22%20%22sony%20z3%22    Only a zillion keyboards and no apparent way to tell if they are adequately Z3 compatible. Texting is tedious enough for lots of us so it's really cheap and/or thoughtless of Sony and probably other brands to omit such a useful keyboard. Thanks for trying to help.
