Is there someone that currently has the issue and has received recently (in my case few days ago) a notification about the availability of the new version of the "update center"?
Could you give more details on this?
2 or 3 days ago I received the notification you can find here
it isn't releated to the TrackID (you can see on the background) but it is related to the engine that manahes all notifications/updates related to the sw and the natively apps (you can find it in settings --> phone info --> software update; maybe translation it isn't exact due to the fact I'm using another language).
In (nearly) 2 years I've this phone I received this notification 2 times: the first one a couple of moths ago: after that the phone started with display issues.
And now the second notification... Maybe I'm thinking bad but I'm wondering if this update could fix the issue...
Currently my update center version is 3.2.0.A.0.10 (the version can be found in settings --> applications --> show system --> software update) and I don't have updated it yet

I believe I have had the same experience as others on this thread. I do link it very much to software updates that were done on the phone. There were three of them, TeackID was one of them, I forget the others. I'm hoping for a simple solution before wiping the phone and starting again.

It's got to be software. The three buttons (microphone, unlock & camera) work fine from the lock screen, it's only when the screen is unlocked and the back, home and apps button appear that is fails.

I did the reset then the system repair like sony told me to ...0 results...if i activate the glove mode and press 20-30 times the button sometimes it works

just received an email...they want to me to send the phone to be repaired and stay without a phone for who knows how much time. Maybe they dont understand that some people dont have lying around phones or they can buy one whenever they need

I have joined this unfortunate club. Z3 Compact is now useless. Software Repair did not work. Rang Sony UK who are not remotely interested in solving this problem. After four mobiles from Sony, NO MORE SONY PRODUCTS FOR ME EVER!

Same problem for me. Sony Companion was useless (particularly now that is not working on macOS Sierra).
Clearly, it is a software issue, as the same area of the screen is working while in the lock mode.
Nevertheless, at the dedicated Sony repair centre they told me that it is necessary to replace the touchscreen (without even looking at the phone) and that it is 190 euro, thanks.
For the time being, I am using an application that gives me access to the Home/back/... functionalities, but I hope that Sony will take care of this problem with some updates, soon or later.
