The real fix is using a different display resolution...root is required: Resolution Changer (Lugalabs) or Screen Shift (Aravind Sagar) and setting resolution into 600 x 1000 and density 230 (otherwise the screenshot doesn't go)
So, if rooting the phone works, and touchscreen is responsive again, doesn't this mean it is NOT a hardware problem?

My sony z3 duel started losing touch strip by strip.first the notification bar,and then the below strip and finally the bottom layer where home button, and return buttons located. But inbetween layers are working.I had a tempered glassed on top of it.I removed it.But no help. Then i factory resetted.Still the problem is there.I did not drop the phone or did not disposed to water.I used it only for one year. What is the reason for this problem
Nobody knows, and no one from Sony has answered yet--oh but they said it's a hardware problem, which I personally think is not right.

LoiunicK, can you confirm that you've done this and it works?
Yes, I confirm... I use this resolution with no problems... I think it is a problem with software resolution and an hardware limit
