Soft Skin effect

This won't turn off. Tried front and back cameras. Tried disabling enabling all settings. Tried force stop camera app in Apps list, clearing data, restart.
Even installed Google's camera app and these photos get processed too!

Extremely frustrated and now thinking of refund

Re: Soft Skin effect

I disabled all the associated camera apps and the built in camera app itself. Restarted. Then tried with front and back using Google camera.
Back one now didn't add soft skin but front one still does!
When you watch carefully you see the split second when the image is cleaned up and filtered instead of being left alone...
Is anyone else experiencing this?

Re: Soft Skin effect

I tried more pics yesterday, its something to do with face detection and how good the natural light is maybe. Like it forces soft skin to be used.
Either way if its a feature that can't be turned off permanently then this is a fault!

Re: Soft Skin effect

I went to Sony store  to test on other z3 and it came out the same way with mine -Soft skin effect didn't turn off. Salesperson there with Z1 got the same thing.

Should we call it a Bug??, since it give you a choice to switch on or off this soft skin efftect ,but evidently all pics are processed to a way way too much soft skin!!

Re: Soft Skin effect

I'm surprised its not been raised as an issue already.
Great testing Deedy! Makes it appear like a deliberate feature, but if the option to turn on/off is there it doesn't explain why there's a switch for it...

Re: Soft Skin effect

Have the same problem.
I'm a professional photographer and this effect makes my phone useless for any people photography.

Extremely bad idea by Sony.

All pictures of people destroyed by a "soft skin" effect.

Sony, you must fix this soft skin issue. This effects completely ruins all my pictures of people.

Appears on both front and back camera.

I'm a professional photographer and Xperia has delivered so good picture qualtiy until this soft effect came with the Z3 (compact). You need to make and update where you can remove the soft skin effect, or I have to return my phone.

I want real pictures, not fake smooth baby skin on every face.

front cam pics blurry softened after saving

It looks fantastic on the screen but after shooting and saving to a file it looks like it has been softened. Its not sharp anymore. Please sony disable your magic picture enhancements for the front cam. Btw i have disabled the soft skin feature but sony is still doing this post processing i guess.

Front Facing Camera is blury

Hey guys,

I´ve noticed that the  front facing camera is very very blury. On display ist the quality very fine, but when i take a picture with the front camera , the quality will affected by the sony algortihm after the shot.

Can i improve the front facing camera by an app or upadate ? Please help me, it is very importent for me , anotherwise I would change to my old smartphone.
