I was facing same problem.. One simple thing solved it.. I did not reset nor did i repaired it.. All u have to do is clear your cache from the recovery mode...
Google how to go into recovery mode.
Or else try booting in safe mode and check whether facing the same problem if not then there's some recently installed app that causing the problem. Try uninstalling and get rid of it soon..

Same to me. When make a call, the Microphone works only when turn on/off the "free talking" - mode.
My fix (found in another Forum):
Shutdown the Phone. Put off the Simcard. Wait some Minutes. Put in the Simcard and restart the Phone. It is crazy, but it solved this issue.

Update 5.1.1 Build 23.4.A.0.570 - Z2 Mic Issues after Update

I have an Xperia Z2 and I recently updated to the new software and ever since the update when I place or receive a call the person on the other end won't be able to hear me if I use the wire headset or speak into the device microphone. I can hear them perfectly. They will only hear me if I use a Bluetooth device or the device speakerphone. I don't really want to have it on speaker where people are hearing my conversations.

Anyone have the solution for this?

 

I tried remove simcard and restart, doesn't work for me.

Tried clear cache from Recovery Mode, but i can not acess the Recovery Mode following this steps:

  1. Power off your smartphone now.
  2. Power on the Xperia Z2 and when the LED Notification lights up you need to press several times Volume Up or Volume Down, either one works.
  3. The device will then show the Recovery Mode screen.

If someone could explain another way, it will be great.

Hi Menna2, have you checked whether you have microphone noise suppression / speakervoice enhancement on? You can check this under Settings > Call. You could also try turning Clear audio on under Settings > Sound & notification > Audio settings. If that doesn't work try what @Phy suggested & let us know how it goes.

 

Note: a software repair will delete all user data, to back up your phone using PC Companion:

1. Go to Support to install PC Companion on a Windows computer.

2. When installed, start PC Companion on the computer.

3. Connect your phone to the computer using a USB cable.

4. Click Start under Backup & Restore.

5. Follow the on-screen instructions. (Exactly what contents will be backed up may differ depending on phone model. You can view detailed information about this as you follow the steps in the Backup & Restore wizard).

 

Running the software repair on PC Companion:

1. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.

2. Phone Software Update.

3. Start.

4. Repair Phone

5. Continue

6. Accept data removal

7. Next

8. Wait for prepare

9. Select Phone

10. Follow the connection steps
