I have exactly the same issue. I think the the problem is more common when the phone is warmed up when using it. I have random problems with scrolling selecting, etc. When I reset my phone with the power button and the volume up button it will work fine for a while.

Are there any telstra users here that are experiencing the problem after updating to .259?
Someone tipped me an info that by flashing the FTF of telstra .259 had fixed his problem with the crappy touch.

I submitted my phone to local service center and as expected they came back after 5 min with a reply stating that nothing is wrong with the phone and they even showed the diagnostic test and the service test by using the touch screen. As I know how they respond I was well prepared I took video of my phone when I was experiencing the problem ( 5 videos in total-diagnostic test and the service test). Finally they agreed to replace the phone. I have other problem along with this touch issue ( yellow hue , proximity sensor issue and black screen.
