Yesterday I plugged my (unmodified) Z5 E6653 in and the xperia companion notified me that there was a new update for my device, so I proceeded to install it. Unfortunately it bricked my device!
Here is the full timeline:
I lost 1 day, lots of personal data (my fault for not doing a backup) and probably part of my mind.
So it seems like my device is stuck at 6.0.1 and that is reason enough for me to consider it useless and/or faulty.
What can I do now? Wait for sony to push a fix? Claim warranty?

Hi @nbzklr, I'm very sorry to hear this.
If you experience this even after performing a software repair I recommend that you get your device examined by an authorised service center. You can contact your local support team through the link in my signature for more information on how you can proceed with this.

I have also gone from same issue repaired my phone in service center, still facing same issue again and again i have to visit service center. Sony either fix the issue or commensate me. Z5 dual is flagship phone and you should resolve this issue. Its is now a irritating issue to Sony Mobile Holder after nougat.

Hi @Di2nu, very sorry to hear this.
If I understood you correctly you experienced this behaviour again after getting it back from the service center? Did it happen without any apparent cause or was it in relation to a software update again?

How can I downgrade to 6.0.1?
Bluetooth function is vital for me, but since update it doesn't work. Very disappointed. :-(

I have to go ahead and agree with OP here.. my device is bricked after the latest software update attempt. The plethora of other issues that seem to be arising sounds like it would be best to steer clear away from this for now. Am waiting to get home praying that I can salvage it by downgrading to Marshmallow :/
Sony this is a complete disaster. Extremely disappointing.
