Re: Sony Xperia Z - Dead, won't turn on, won't charge, PC doesn't recognise, led doesnt light

This helped me (on my Sony Xperia Z3 D6603 version, but it should work for other models) after i tried everything else, it happens when you let your phone drain completely and you try to turn it on again - it leads to: it won't turn on, it won't charge (no led of any color whatsoever) PC operating system cannot detect it (or it detects it as unknown device) and PC companion software won't detect it and it doesn't react when you plug it in with 5 sec vol down hold. Button combinations mentioned above wont work at all, phone will not vibrate.

This is not my solution, i read it on Xperia forums but it was burried among useless posts of people replacing their phone as a solution (which i would consider as spam).

The 2-minute restart procedure.

Detach the SIM card slot cover.

Using the tip of a pen or similar object, press and hold down the small OFF button (generally indicated by the text "OFF") for 120 seconds (ignoring any vibrations), and then release the OFF button.

Charge the device until a charging icon appears on the screen.

Turn on your Xperia™ device.

Also, important notice: Before i held OFF button for about 120 seconds, first time i held it for around 60 seconds, the result was that when i plugged it back to USB port, LED turn on and it was red. I tried button combinations again and none of them worked, so i decided to leave the phone for around 10 minutes to charge and then WHILE IT WAS STILL CONNECTED TO CHARGER CONNECTED TO WALL SOCKET i held yellow OFF button for 120 seconds. It started vibrating 3 times per each session after ~65 seconds and then it continued in regular intervals until i stopped holding it at around 120 second mark. After that, phone turned on, red battery icon that signals that the battery depleted appeared. After that, it took couple of minutes for the phone to reset itself and it started to charge showing 1% charged. I left it like this for now since i'm still under procedure of turning it back on again. I will update when i turn it on completely.

Result: Phone was at 11% charging mark when i pressed Power button, phone turned on and it is working normal. So this solution works.

This also works for Xperia E5 (F3313). Thanks ! This phone model is not equipped with any OFF button, I was holding POWER and VOLUME UP buttons for 2 minutes, instead.

I have also connected the phone to my PC via USB cable for some minutes until it spontaneously entered flash mode (green light instead of red light) and disconnected, just before I followed the procedure. It started vibrating again on pressing POWER + VOLUME UP only after it was a while in flash mode. I'm not sure if bringing the device to the flash mode is meaningful at all, but perhaps it's good to read all the details, just in case.

Re: Sony Xperia Z - Dead, won't turn on, won't charge, PC doesn't recognise

Hello, last night I was driving in car and using GPS from Z2 while charging it with cheap Chinese car-charger. It was probably hot. Then I inserted it into other car still using GPS, and one moment I notified that the battery is not charging.

When I got home, it didn't charge from wall-socket neither. And turned itself off because of too high temperature as it displayd (actually Z2 was cold that moment).

Now it won't charge. I tried to eject all components (RAM, CPU, battery) for night. Still nothing. Now it turns on for some minutes after I eject SIM-card and battery for a second. Then it shuts off with message too high temperature.

Any suggestions? Do I have to replace my battery or are there any temperature sensors?

Re: Sony Xperia Z - Dead, won't turn on, won't charge, PC doesn't recognise

Incorrect, very inconvenient and not good advice. Hold the power and volume buttons at the same time, for a few seconds, and you should see the LED flash and the phone should then turn on (if plugged in). If it doesn't, it will need a proper service, but this will never involve giving the battery or the device a "shock". Also, "discharge"? Surely you mean to say something quite different.. thank you anyway Slightly smiling Face

Re: Sony Xperia Z - Dead, won't turn on, won't charge, PC doesn't recognise

Thankyou StuartjG, I know your post was from 2015 although this has actually helped me tonight in 2018. I took your advice after absolutly trying most solutions on this forum, I held the red OFF button for over one minute which prompted my phone to vibrate three times, Then red indication light came back on. After leaving my phone off allowing my phone to recharge completly finally the red light turned green & I was able to boot my phone with charger attached incase the phone decides to die again.

If you see this response would you be able to advise further, I called Sony tonight & was informed this is a software issue & I need to connect to my PC Companion although for some reason my Sony Z1 does not

Re: Sony Xperia Z - Dead, won't turn on, won't charge, PC doesn't recognise

Sony should have recalled these handsets a long time ago due defective software, By now they already would have lost so many loyal consumers. If other suppliers & manufactures recall products for defective reasons why is Sony an exception! Action needs to be taken!!
