Re: How to copy files from a locked XperiaZ,Z1 And all Other Xperia's with broken screen

What if that option doesn't work? I've tried with my Xperia z doesn't register the mouse. Is there a specific OTG cable?

Re: How to copy files from a locked XperiaZ,Z1 And all Other Xperia's with broken screen

Hi all,

If you want to backup contacts, apps etc. you will need Sony Companion. I found the solution how to get around the issue when you cannot select the Transfer files (MTP) option.

  1. Connect the mouse with your mobile phone using OTG cable
  2. Unlock the phone with the mouse by drawing the security pattern
  3. Go to the Developer options and under 'Select USB Configuration' choose MTP
  4. Open Sony Companion and connect your phone with the USB cable
  5. Although your phone will ask you to select from the USB modes, now it can be ignored as it was done in step 3.
  6. Use 'Backup' in Sony Companion

Please note, if you leave out step 3, the Backup option will be greyed out and you will be prompted to set Xperia to MTS mode and it will not work.

Okay, I Agree that With mouse we will be able to operate all function of mobile phone (With broken Screen) once it will unclock then you can connect your mobile to Your pC and get the internal data,

But It will be possible to unlock it if we are unable to see anything on the Screen.

Re: How to copy files from a locked XperiaZ with broken screen

I know this is an old question but what I'd do is buy a screen replacement kit and simply repair the phone. I don't know what internal damage there is, so that may not be enough of a fix for you to regain access to your phone. It would certainly void any warranties but it's a whole load cheaper than buying a new phone or sending it to someone else to fix.

Re: How to copy files from a locked XperiaZ,Z1 And all Other Xperia's with broken screen

I've connected the mouse by using the OTG cable. Unfortunately it didn't work as if I'm not mistaken, we've to go to "Setting" in order to debug the USB. Is it another way to unlock the phone?

Thankyou!

Re: How to copy files from a locked XperiaZ with broken screen

Hi, the back of my Xperia Z5 got broken last night. Now I can't see anything on the screen. It's completely black! I know the phone is on and recognized by my PC when I connect it using USB.

Problem is that the phone is locked and I would like to make a copy of all the data on it.

I'm using Xperia Companion, but before going further I need to unlock the phone and I can't see anything on the screen that is not possible.

I used to work for SonyEricsson many years ago and I know there is always a "work-around" to pass this thing (at least on old phone). How can I proceed now. Any "key combination" or "magic" to get my phone open to the Xperia Companion?

I know I can use a mouse connected to the phone, but that won't help as I can't see anything on the screen. It needs to be a way to go around all this and be able to back-up my phone now.

I already removed and got the data om the MicroMemory. It's the data on the phone memory I would like to get access to.

So how to unlock the phone not using the screen?

"...files stored on the phones internal memory can unfortunately not be accessed without unlocking the phone using the screen"

Thanks for any support!

Cheers

Hello! I was wondering if you found a solution for your problem as I'm having exactly the same! Broken touchscreen, can't connect both USB to the computer and OTG to the mouse as they plug in the same place on my Sony.. Thanks in advance!
