Disable/remove What's new in 4.4.4

Hi

i would like to disable/remove what's new

Its now appearing alongside google now in the Home button/swipe up function.

Its serves no purpose and I would like to see an option to remove it

In the apps option, the disable function of What's new app is greyed out

I'd also like to see this disable function activated

My phone is not rooted and do not what to root the device

Re: Disable/remove What's new in 4.4.4

Thanks but it appears you can disable it without root

I found the solution on xda thanks to user akk2

1) run adb
2) adb shell
3) pm block com.sonymobile.advancedwidget.entrance
4) reboot
5) Done!

Re: Disable/remove What's new in 4.4.4

if the phone is not rooted, not pssible to disable the app.

The only option is to force shut, but it will run again when your restart your phone.

Re: Disable/remove What's new in 4.4.4

Me too. It was confusing me for a while why my usual direct upwards swipe wasn't bringing up google now.

That Sony app is utterly useless. Why would I want to quickly access a number of ads?

I'm getting that much closer to just installing CyanogenMod (I've had it on my past two phones)

Re: Disable/remove What's new in 4.4.4

I just upgraded my build version and Sony has burdened me with What's New. It is highly objectionable that Sony should force software programmes without giving users options to disable or uninstall it. I do not like What's New and I dont want it.

Add an Option to Disable What's New in Android 4.4.4

It's very annoying to find What's New besides Google Now on the Home Button swipe. Please solve this problem.

Re: Disable/remove What's new in 4.4.4

You can block it like this:

1.Install ADB

2.Run ADB shell from Windows cmd

3.Write pm block com.sonymobile.advancedwidget.entrance (to reset it just replace block with unblock)

4.That's it (in some cases you might need to restart)

This works. If you want to make it show up again, write unblock.

Re: Disable/remove What's new in 4.4.4

Hi all,

I've installed ADB in my system, but it's not able to detect my phone. I followed the guide given in the xda post to fix this, but I couldn't find the drivers listed there. Moreover, my phone is listed as Xperia ZL in the device manager, so, I'm pretty sure it is connected properly. I'm running a Windows 7 enterprise edition.

Thanks for any help in advance.
