XZs ghosting / burn in

I've noticed that the display of my XZs shows some ghosting or burn in effects. It's obvious when I check the grey screen in the service menu. Especially the on screen keys and the status bar.

I changed my device in the market but the other one is exactly the same. Is this a common issue with XZs (never had this before on any Xperia)?

@Andrej123,

@viridis is quite right. It seems like image persistence.

There's some videos on YouTube you can play that claim to help speed up the process. I had it happen with my TV once and used such a video and it seemed to do the trick.

Hi @Andrej123, I am sorry to hear about this Slightly frowning Face

Would it be possible for you to post a video of the issue to help us identify it a little better?

Re: XZs ghosting / burn in

You cannot post a video here, or am I missing something?

Anyway I made a pic, at the moment it is not that obvious, but if you look closely you'll notice it. A little bit of backlight bleeding on the top as always by the way...DSC_0182.JPG

With lcd displays, it's called "image persistence"

Luckily, unlike amoled, It goes away as pixels change in that location.

Re: XZs ghosting / burn in

Thank you for your quick response!

But do you think it goes away like forever over time? 'Cause sometimes it gets better, but if I use an App with the on screen buttons it gets worse again...

Never experienced it with any lcd/Xperia before...

Re: XZs ghosting / burn in

It goes away with regular use,

Only if static image is 24/7 will it become stuck on the crystal memory.

It's been around on lcd since beginning, only recently becoming visible with 1080p condensed displays.

Re: XZs ghosting / burn in

Thanks again for your help!

But it gets worse over time so I send it in for repair but they couldn't find anything. What is reasonable if the device isn't used under daily conditions. So maybe I use my old Xperia X with the same display tech but without ghosting, so I still don't think that it's normal. On top of that it still has double tap to wake Slightly smiling Face
