If Your on STAMINA - always ON, try advanced stamina settings > third option DOT (something like: screen enhencments are turned off, but overall usability is not affected). First and second option of energy saving will give you just 20 minutes more lifetime, but screen and menus will be bumpy and freezy-thinking alike.

If no Stamina is activated, try to whipe-clean android install via Xperia Companion, an update might got wrong setup and is corrupting processes of the system.
Usualy it's recomended to erase-clean after a huge update is placed so new system has a "fresh start" on formatted partition (like windows used to behave when "just update" was used, a formatted clean setup drastically increased speed).
