Hi @gallois00!

As the application is being phased out, some functions may not work correctly, such as the hotspot.

Was there any change when you followed the instructions given by @melloyell8? He seems to have found a workaround, but in general the hotspot feature in Smart Connect, should not work.

I think this situation is not acceptable, because Smart Connect is not a third party application, it is presented by Sony. If you take the application into the phone, you must provide it work perfectly.

 

And mines score goes to Sony.

I have got the same answer from the Sony..."we can not do further steps to solve the problem".

I have Z5 Premium...and the same error appear. If I have tried the SmartConnect, that after an NFC tag read, it should swich on the wifi hotspot. The swich is on, but grey, so not modifiable. And the hotspot is not working. If I try it to manually turn on...it works fine...

I have also tried the Autome...but is the same result.

 

I am very disappointed that Sony handles its own SW fault like this...

@gallois00, I understand the frustration, but during the phase out some features will no longer work, although the application is still available in the Google Play store. When it is completely phased out and no longer supported, it will not be available in the Google Play store.

This is also why the application is no longer pre-installed in our devices, as it is being phased out.

@TaziTazi, enabling or disabling the Wi-Fi hotspot is one of the other features that is no longer available, due to the application being phased out, that is why it's no longer working for you.

I'm sorry that I can't be of more help, but as these functions are no longer available, there isn't anything that I can do except for referring to another application in the Google Play store that might be able to do these actions for you both.
