Re: "Phone Idle" battery drain in 7.0 Nougat

Deleting the cached fixed the issue for me.

My phone now last for more than 1 day with normal usage (BT + Wifi + Mobile Data)

Re: "Phone Idle" battery drain in 7.0 Nougat

I've increased my battery life quite a bit by turning on "Data Saver" which disables background data. I excluded WhatsApp from it, but since turning that data saver feature on, I've managed to get more SOT.

Though, I still can't get more than 4-5 hours of SOT (no gaming) from this phone, so I don't know how some people are getting 8-10 hours of SOT with this phone.

To enable Data Saver, go to settings --> Data Usage --> Data saver to on.

I had the same issue, phone idle consumes the battery the most and the phone is unusually hot.

Re: "Phone Idle" battery drain in 7.0 Nougat

It seems to be a growing problems on Marshmallow and Nougat phones. It could be Google and not Sony fault - I am not sure - but Idle consumptions has increased a lot with the newer Android updates - particularly "phone idle", "Google play services", "Android system", "Android OS", "Cell standby" or whatever they call all those background activities. It seems to me that it was better controlled by Sony on the earlier Androids (kit-kat etc.) with Stamina mode working well. Android Doze does not seem to work as well.

Re: "Phone Idle" battery drain in 7.0 Nougat

I have Xperia X also and upgraded to Nougat. I am not a gamer or anything - just normal stuff (FB, browsing internet, exchange E-mail client, camera, bluetooth music streaming, Tidal). I can normally use the phone for 2 days wihtout charging - typically with 60% remaining battery after normal working day.

I have noticed background/idle consumption to be a bit unstable - it seems to depend a lot on the WIFI/4G network you are near. I think the idle consumption was better on Kit-kat and earlier Android versions - Google/Sony needs to improve that part. My wife's Iphone is much better when it comes to Idle consumption, but seems to consume more when being used.
