Re: Some apps unable to properly access SD card after update

Experienced the same issue, but it seems to me that only DRM related applications are affected, ordinary ones can store data to the SD card as before (before the 41.2.A.199) .

  • Spotify - there is not offered external storage any more
  • Google Play Music - if the storage location is set to "External", then when attemting to play a music, the application is crashing repeatedly. I can see in logcat following:

  • Netflix - the same as Spotify, the external storage is not available in the "App Setting"
  • Amazon Prime Video - the external storage can be set, but if I do so, then each movie download ends with "Download Error", this is what logcat says:

It seems to me that SELinux does not allow to use dev="ecryptfs" for write, which is reason for Google Play Music crashes and Amazon Prime Video download errors.

I assume that disabling of SD card encryption would be workaroud.

I hope that next security update will fix the issue.

Re: Some apps unable to properly access SD card after update

Bluetooth is failing and turning itself off, this is also happening to Nfc, anyone else getting this?

Disk read/write error pops up when I try to download from webpages

Battery usage is exponentially dropping throughout the day. It tells me battery will die at midnight, then soon after it changes to 8pm, then 5pm etc.

Sony needs to prioritize this and expedite the update.

Re: Some apps unable to properly access SD card after update

June update is live! Downloading now and will report back!

Edit: R.I.P. Freshly formatted sd card, encryption turned off. Still completely broken. Definitely my last Sony phone.

Re: Some apps unable to properly access SD card after update

Yeah it's not just the encryption hey, it's affecting battery and ram. Typing right now is a nightmare!

Switching windows, yesterday I couldn't even answer phone calls, it took so long to register I pressed the answer button that I missed a call... Twice!!!!

Re: Some apps unable to properly access SD card after update

Hello Jonas,

So it has been a month since this was first reported and the June security update has been released.

Is there any chance that there is a fix for this issue in that update? If not has there been any progress?

It's just that this bug basically means that I have no SD card.

Many thanks,

Re: Some apps unable to properly access SD card after update

Hello everyone!

@fluffygutss, sorry for the late reply to your post, however based on the information you are experiencing the same behaviour as the rest of the users in this thread.

@hrdlimar, Thanks again for the excellent information! Slightly smiling Face

@xevox, Thanks for letting me know that this is not solved after the latest update.

@MarcusSan, I'm afraid that I have no new information regarding this behaviour and I will let all of you know as soon as I do. I understand that not being able to properly use your SD card is never fun and I hope this can be solved as soon as possible.

I'm very sorry for any inconveniences this may cause for all of you and I thank you for your patience.

Re: Some apps unable to properly access SD card after update

Cheers Jonas,

I noticed there's not been any replies in this forum since last week.

Not sure if you've noticed this forum as well: https://www.google.com/url?hl=en&q=https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-XZ/XZ-Lagging-a-lot/m-p/123...

It seems to be directly related.

I'm attempting a repair of my software (again) but it seems to be taking an astronomical amount of time. The Xperia Companion software failed on backing up my device so I opted to manually copying everything to my PC before trying the repair.

Is there any chance of sony giving us a method to roll back to previous android? This is crippling my use of the phone now. I can't use google home, apps and even phone call keeps crashing! I'm so devo right now.... Slightly frowning Face Can't record videos because they're chugging.

Re: Some apps unable to properly access SD card after update

I don't know why, but i have make several attempts and it works every time.

I was not able to move apps to sd card since 7.1.1 update. Here is how i do it:

1. try to move the app to sd card "Not enoght space message appears"

2. plug usb cable to your computer and phone

3. select file transfer mode

4. open an explorer and open any folder

5. close explorer

6. try to move the app to sd card "transfer succesfull"

I have reproduce this 4 times. My SD card is backed up and formatted with xperia option at menu in my phone. 4 hard reset and 4 sd card format.

Best regards

Re: Some apps unable to properly access SD card after update

WOW. Still doesn't work on the  July update. Sony clearly couldn't care less about it's customers.

Re: Some apps unable to properly access SD card after update

The July update killed my third party apps ability to access the SD card.

My Xperia XA was working fine before that.
