Re: Android 7.1.1 + battery drain

Screenshot_20170720-214725.pngThis is what i could squeeze out...

Yesterday my SOT was 3 hours. Today it has doubled. I normally get 3 hrs SOT on Android 7.0...then i updated it to 7.1 and there was some improvement in performance but the battery drain was still a issue. Then i did the following things to see if it would help

1.Uninstalled facebook messenger

2.Uninstalled facebook beta app and installed it with normal version

3.Unchecked battery care and smart cleaner

4.Installed Greenify (not rooted).

5.Disabling wifi/data overnight

6.Enabling Stamina Mode while sleeping

Re: Android 7.1.1 + battery drain

I solved the battery drain issue on my phone by disabling the 'Bluetooth Scanning' under

Settings > Location > … > Scanning

What about Wi-Fi scanning?

Re: Android 7.1.1 + battery drain

Wifi scanning can be turned on... There's no issue with that.

Re: Android 7.1.1 + battery drain

Better to turn off both wifi and Bluetooth scanning ... Both are battery drainers

the thing is they automatically start again, what I mean is when you open Google Maps it ask you activate this and most of the time ppl don't read and say yes ... so it again starts. So keep a check on that

Re: Android 7.1.1 + battery drain

Just turn off 'Bluetooth' scanning, it resolved the drain issue.

It is ok to keep Wifi scanning ON.

Re: Android 7.1.1 + battery drain

Thanks for the tip regarding turning off bluetooth scanning! I was having a dramatic battery drain (phone would become noticably warm and would lose 10% battery power in 20 minutes when using bluetooth and the Xperia music app or Spotify) and turning off bluetooth scanning solved it for me.

Re: Android 7.1.1 + battery drain

I have had the XZ since April, having moved from a Z3 (after various other Sony phones over the years). Whilst I like the phone, I have to say that the battery life is appalling. I can't even get a full day of use out of 1 charge. I've tried restarting after taking phone off charge, doesn't help. I've reset the phone after each update, doesn't help, and I have all sorts of things turned off. (Scanning, wifi except when on charge etc etc).

(With the Z3 I still had a good 60-70% battery at the end of the day, can’t even get to mid afternoon with that on the XZ.)

I am not a heavy user so I am not sure how people whose usage is greater than mine manage.

This recent update .53 has, to my horror, reduced the battery life even further. 100% at 7am, it is now 3.30pm and I am now down to 55%, with a discharge rate per hour of 6.1% (1% every 9mins).

Screen 14% (SOT 43m)

Phone idle 24%

Android OS 16%

I know there are a lot of people out there complaining about the battery life and I don't necessarily believe it is Sony, since some of what I've read would indicate that Nougat is having a similar effect on other makes of phone. I love the phone, I just hate its sh*tty battery life!

I'm at a loss as to what more I can do (other than keep charging more than once per day) and would value any further suggestions! I can't afford to replace the phone after just 6 months, or have a not fit for purpose paperweight for the next 18months until my contract has ended. However, it's getting to the point where I'm tempted to go back to my trusty Z3 with its great battery life ............

All suggestions as to what I might try, gratefully received!

Everything you've said, is the exact same I'm experiencing since I regretfully upgraded to 7.1.1.  My Z3 compact is carried with me everywhere now because my XZ is useless and freezes on so much stuff. I hate it.

Re: Android 7.1.1 + battery drain

In my case of new Xperia X, with latest 7.1.1 as of September 2017, Phone Idle takes 36% of battery in a day. Phone is warm after sitting idle for hours. This seems affect Lenovo and 1+1 phones based on their forum complains. This could be Sony misconfiguration see this post: http://www.hackmyandroid.com/fix-battery-drain-stock-sony-devices/9763
