XZ Premium Slow Motion Length

XZ Premium Slow Motion Length

Hi,

I was wondering if it's possible to increase the length of the 960FPS video recording? Currently I can only do super short clips which makes it easy to miss the right moment. Can more continuous recording be done?

Thanks.

Re: XZ Premium Slow Motion Length

doubt it, since it's probably hardware limitation. you can record longer slowmo clips by switching to 120 fps.

Re: XZ Premium Slow Motion Length

Bit of a pointless feature if you can't make longer than 6 second clips. Over that length it's just a point and hope sort of thing

Re: XZ Premium Slow Motion Length

Hi @beeperbeeper5, welcome to the community.

The super slow motion sequence will always be 0.182 seconds in real time which equates to up to 6 seconds in super slow motion playback. You cannot record longer sequences. There is no limit on the amount of times you can record super slow motion sequences one after the other, however you will be required to wait a few seconds in between for the processing to be completed.

Getting the exact timing when trying to film super slow motion is always going to be difficult. People with professional set ups often have to do several takes or use advanced timers to make sure they get the shot and even then still miss it sometimes.

Once you do capture that perfect shot though, the results are amazing! Slightly smiling Face

I can totally second this...

Here's a few slow motions that I did at a flight show 2 weeks ago.

This one is my absolute favourite and was the most satisfying when I watched it afterwards:

Rhe results are far from being amazing, in perfect conditions results are acceptable. Sadly, in anybother than perfect conditions results are really poor and ugly. The reason for that is not the length of the slow mode, but the resolution which is laughable 720p and too big image crop. I tried it in very heavy rain, there was really a lot of water drops, results? One rain drops very close to ne was seen and the rest of water was unseen or partially blurred so entire spectacular effect was gone. Most probably due to lightening, as it is normal when raining there is no sun.

Overall impressive weather effect seen in real life was gone on this so advertise super slow mode option due to bad quality in 720p.

Re: XZ Premium Slow Motion Length

It's 960fps. Of course it's not going to be 4k. Even 1080p at that many fps would be insane. The amount of data being proccesed at that speed is insane for a mobile and quite frankly seriously impressive.

Re: XZ Premium Slow Motion Length

Can't you just go into the editor after filming a slow-motion clip, and then choose which portions you want to slow down to what specific speed? It seems like that's all the problem of knowing ahead of time exactly when to start the super slow motion capture in a slow motion mode video.

only very short parts of the footage are recorded in 960 fps. if you try and slow down a 60 fps to the same degree, it'll look VERY janky with frame jumps every couple seconds.

Re: XZ Premium Slow Motion Length

It needs a lot of practice to capture just the right moment. 960fps is totally insane shutter speed, and actually XZPs camera collects huge amount of data that 0.182 second period. Against that 720p is more than good achievement.  Also, a surprisingly lot can happen in that time frame in high speed events which human eye has no chance to see. For example a gunshot,  lightning bolt.

I think XZP super slow motion camera is quite amazing piece of technology built in a cellphone and with practice it can make very interesting shots.
