Re: Oreo killed my X Compact Battery

Well Sony, the issue has gone on too long. Am gonna use this expensive phone as a Spotify streamer in the car with a data sim which results in permanently being connected when in use so the battery is never relied upon.

The Samsung Galaxy that I have received has for the last week repeatedly lasted 3 days with 4G always on and is as speedy as the X Compact.

Gutted with such a situation, I will be avoiding Sony Phones in the future

Re: Oreo killed my X Compact Battery

I received the Oreo update a couple of weeks ago.

I was shocked at the battery drain for the first week and was having to top my phone up every evening.  If not on the official charger I sometimes saw the % drop whilst plugged in!

However, since then, my battery life has improved greatly and is now better than when I was on Nougat. The only time I see a dip is if I'm in a no (or very low) mobile signal area with 4g active and no WiFi present.  As soon as I'm connected to WiFi there is no issue.

I reckon that other posts suggesting that background configurations for Oreo could be taking place initially are correct or perhaps I'm just lucky?

Anyway, I'm more than happy now.  To those having troubles - give it time, it could just improve beyond your wildest dreams!

Re: Oreo killed my X Compact Battery

Whenever I snooze an alarm sometimes the notification gets stuck too. Then I need to close my clock app to get it removed (PS: After doing this open the clock app again to make it start up, otherwise your next alarm clock might not go off).

Re: Oreo killed my X Compact Battery

NEWS AFTER THE LAST UPDATE!!! For me the last update solved everything, it took around week but the battery consumption decreased to reasonable numbers and now im happy with my xperia!! I dont know the reason but it just works as it should. Maybe some calibration by charging from 0-100 was necessary..

Re: Oreo killed my X Compact Battery

Can confirm that replacing the SMS app (I picked QKSMS because it's open source) and disabling the default sms app restored my battery life. Testing for 4 days, battery is back to nougat level.

Thanks Peterborregaard

Re: Oreo killed my X Compact Battery

i also had the overheat issue and horrible battery drain - even after factory reset

this is all what i did; not sure what helped, but now the battery life is the same as before on 7.1

disabled the sms app

disabled chrome

disabled facebook

disabled wi fi/bluetooth scanning in location settings

disabled mobile data always on in developer settings

disabled google feed and turned off almost all notifcations

removed the battery saving exception for all apps - one or two were on by default

hope it helps

Re: Oreo killed my X Compact Battery

Nougat user here. I have been avoiding the upgrade because they are famous for causing problems. Guess what? I have a battery problem for about two weeks now! It used to be like this: my battery is at 30% when I go to sleep. When I wake up it's at about 15%. Yesterday I went to sleep when the battery was at 40%. When I woke up the battery was at 1%! I didn't sleep longer than usual!

My assumptions:

It's not the Oreo update that's causing the problem. It's either an app that got a weird update or the battery is going down after just one year of usage._.

I de-installed all apps I installed in the past two weeks (2 of them+ another that I stopped using after it's radical change due to an update) and deactivated Chrome (have been using a different browser anyway). Any other suggestions? I'll check my phone with my anti-virus program because some hidden spy software can affect the battery. I'll also keep in mind the SMS app you guys mentioned. I actually thought that Sony might have run a secret Nougat update to force the remaining nougat users into the oreo upgrade since the suggestions for the upgrade has been popping up more frequently and we heard from Apple that they do run updates to ruin the battery so why not expecting the same thing with other companies? After seeing my battery dying today I really considered to finally upgrade. That's why I'm here. I was wondering wether Sony published an update for oreo by now to address the reported bugs that appeared with the upgrade...?

Re: Oreo killed my X Compact Battery

I have still Battery Problems.

In normal Standby, the "Mobile Network on Standby" takes so much Accu, that my Phone is empty in 5 hours, without using. I allready made a factory reset, it doesn't help!!!
