Re: Android 7.0 Bluetooth and car radio issues

Not only Volkswagen.

I drive a Jaguar XE MY2016. Bluetooth is instable every 10 to 30 second it changes betweeen connect an disconnect.

They are no problems with the other smartphones in our family (Huawei ShotX, IPhone 7, Galaxy S6, Galaxy Alpha).

Build no. 34.2.A.0.311

@StefanHueb could you try to turn off WiFi before connecting your phone? Will it disconnect anyway or is it better/stable?

Re: Android 7.0 Bluetooth and car radio issues

So my issue was a bit different from most others in that I was having trouble maintaining a connection to the Mazda Connect infotainment system in my 2015 Mazda3 with my Xperia X Compact. All the steering wheel controls would work, but the phone would only stay connected from very specific locations and bumping it could cause it to disconnect from the system and it would take several seconds to reconnect or I would need to do so manually. Sometimes this would happen several times in a row and I would need to keep adjusting the phone until I found the "sweet spot" where it would stay connected. This would happen almost every other time that I got into the vehicle and proved to be quite frustrating. This was also the case on the latest 34.2.A.0.311 phone firmware.

This past Monday I took my car in to upgrade the firmware from 55.00.750B-NA to 59.00.441A-NA and ever since then the phone has kept a solid connection to the Mazda Connect system. I've tried moving it around to different places in the car and the worst I've noticed is stutter on the bluetooth audio streaming, but not disconnects. I feel fairly confident that this has corrected my problem.

I was fairly skeptical about a radio update fixing the problem, but it's possible that there is truth to that reasoning. It's just a shame because car companies so rarely (if at all) update their software compared to phone companies. It seems like a huge oversight for end users.

Re: Android 7.0 Bluetooth and car radio issues

In my car,Toyota Rav 4, internet by Bluetooth worked well yesterday. Today I did the upgrade as requested by Sony for Xperia compact Z5. And now calls in car works well but internet no. Do you meet same thing ?

If you are asking me, I was referring to connecting over Bluetooth to stream music and making phone calls. Previously, the Xperia X Compact would disconnect if moved or if the car took too long to import my phone contacts. My Xperia Z3 Compact that I had previously had no problem staying connected. I figured it was a phone issue, but the update of the car resolved my music streaming and phone calling connectivity. I have not used it for Internet streaming or streaming radio like Pandora, so I cannot comment on that. If you mean something else by "internet", then I am afraid I'm not sure what you mean.

Re: Android 7.0 Bluetooth and car radio issues

Guess we have to wait. :-(

There is another post regarding the Android 7.0 bluetooth problems.

https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-XZ/Bluetooth-Metadata-not-displaying-after-Nougat-update/td-p/...

The bug is not Sony specific. It seems to be a problem with Android 7.0
There is an alternative firmware from  Sony called "Concept for Android". It's a beta program where people can download the latest firmware (right now Android 7.1.1 i guess) and give feedback to Sony. The latest Concept firmware seems to solve the bluetooth problems (missing Metadata + No Control) but unfortunately it's only available for the Xperia X. :-(

I'm somewhat disappointed in Sony. It's a real shame how they are handling this situation.
No info, no statement. It looks like they are ignoring us.

A "We are aware of the problem and are working on a solution." would have been nice.

I guess sooner or later we will also receive a working firmware. For me it's really annoying so I hope it's rather sooner than later. ;-)

Same problem here: Sony Xperia X Compact just upgraded on Nougat 7.0 and problem with my Parrot MKI 9100.

Devices doesn't match. What we have to do? Downgrade to Marshmallow?!?!?
