Phone number stored in phone when shipped, problem.

Hi

I have a little problem with my XS.

Basically I ported my number from another network, but the phone still says the temporary number that it shipped with in the settings.  My number is fully functional on this phone.

This means any app I download that uses mobile numbers [such as Barclays Pingit, PayPal, Whatsapp] picks up the wrong number.

How can I change it to my real number?

Cheers

Matt

Re: Phone number stored in phone when shipped, problem.

OK,

New sim placed in phone, sim in in limbo at the moment, but the phone states phone number "unknown"

So you can safely assume that the phone gets the number from the sim card, so the only way of changing it is by replacing the sim with a new programmed one.

Thanks for the assistance....well... =)

Have you tried resetting the handset since you changed your number over?

No I haven't done a hard reset.  Will that definitely resolve my issue?  My carrier say I need a new sim card...

Well it's not quite "just"... means I have to order it, pay £5.50, and be without my network signal for 24 hours..

Doing a factory reset now,   ohh great, why is this now?  All I backed up was the sodding informationfailed.JPG

Re: Phone number stored in phone when shipped, problem.

Are you suggesting that the back up and restore utility in PC Companion doesn't actually work, and I have to use another method?!

I don't think you understand, that is a screen dump of the restore utility "failing"  after I successfully backed up the data PRE reset.

What?

Re: Phone number stored in phone when shipped, problem.

Hang on a minute!!!

I can view the back up data, and it's backed up my images and movies, and not any other data, even though I UNCHECKED Images and Movies, as I already have them on my PC, and kept EVERYTHING ELSE CHECKED, It's worked the wrong sodding way round.

How messed up it that?
