Re: Can't play 4k video in my Xperia M5

Hi @AnuragYadav,

Welcome to the community.

The Xperia M5 doesn't have a 4K display, so any 4K video you play on it will have to be downscaled. In this process some of the data is going to be lost as it simply can not display it all.

To be sure that the video isn't recording poorly, are you able to play the video on a 4K display, such as a TV/Monitor that supports it?

You can try to use mxplayer with hw+ or hw mode, but as Cameron says the experience won't be the same.

Re: Can't play 4k video in my Xperia M5

@AnuragYadav

Xperia M5 has a full HD Screen resolution

HD 1080                                1920 x 1080

UHD-1                                   3840 X 2160

4K                                          4096 x 2160

Xperia Z5 Premium               3840 x 2160

A side note, the Xperia Z5 Premium (and other Xperias) record videos on full 4K not UHD.

Re: Can't play 4k video in my Xperia M5

It means only Xperia Z5 premium is able to play 4k..... And no other Xperia. Is it true that only 4k display phone will play 4k. Also other brand phones are not able to play 4k. As Z5 is the world's first 4k display phone.

You are aware that you are not watching a 4K video right?

Re: Can't play 4k video in my Xperia M5

@uliwooly I recorded 4k video from my Xperia M5 and saved it on the SD card as mentioned in the above post. Then I play the video on my Xperia M5...... The video quality was very good and the resolution is as same of the 4k video. There is no greenish effect this time. It means that, I am aware that I am watching 4k video of high resolution on my Xperia M5 right.
I am happy now... 😉☺
