SBH80 headset inconsistent sound quality

SBH80 bluetooth headphones have been having inconsistent sound quality. occasionally, the sound will get distorted and break up lot and/or contain alot of static. Usually, restarting the headphones, or repairing it to the phone will fix the issue. But it has been happening a lot now and repairing it to the phone and restarting the headphones is no longer fixing the distortion. 

Any solution to fix this issue and stop my headphones from sounding like part of the flight of the concords skit -The Humans Are Dead-

How about if your go to settings, Bluetooth, sbh80, unpair, restart your phone, pair it and try again

Umm, tried that. Worked for a while. But it's not fixing the problem anymore. Still sounds like a robot.
