What's New is constantly running, unable to turn off

The what's new app constantly runs without any means to turn it off. This of course increases my data usage and inflates my monthly bill. The phone is still new enough that I can return it which seems to be the only solution, other than a class action lawsuit to force Sony to reimburse all Xperia users for the increased monthly fees caused by their bloatware. Sony please fix this problem as the phone is superior in all other respects.

Here's what you can do to stop this:

- If any of your homescreens has the What's New widget, remove it by tap & hold and drag it to top of screen.

- Go to your app drawer -> What's New -> Tap on the 3-dots icon in the top right corner -> Settings -> Auto update apps & Auto play videos -> Wi-Fi only

You might experience that the What's New app is constantly running. This is due to the fact that the What's New app synchronize content for a few days after your latest usage. After this, the What's New app should not be running or consume any network resources.

Sony support, why don't you give people the answer to his question.  He wants to turn it off.

P.S.  When all the support queries for an app all ask the same thing "How can i turn off this annoying app that just shows me ads", perhaps you should pass this onto management and get them to remove the app from the builds in the first place.
