Why mark the answer as solution?

Why mark the answer as solution?

An important part on a user driven forum is helping each other. One way to help other users is by accepting the answer to your question as solution in a topic you started.

This helps other users who might have the same question to find the answer. Your topic will also be featured amongst New Solutions making it easier for others to find.

Marking the correct answer as solution is also a way to say thanks to the user who provided it.

When you start a topic on the forum, each answer will have this button where you can mark that answer as solution to your question:

Note that it's only the user who started the topic or a moderator who can mark or unmark an answer as the solution.

What happens when an answer is set as solution?

When you mark an answer as solution, this answer is copied to the top of the discussion.

The topic is also marked as solved and featured under "New solutions".

On each page of the discussion, there will be an option to go to the solution:

Accidentally selected wrong post as solution?

Don't worry, you can unmark a post as solution.

From the options menu on the post set as solution, select "Not the solution":
