What I should of qualified before, is that updating the phone doesn't affect the memory card in terms of its contents, but in some cases such as yours, it locks it out.Yes, the Vivaz is compatible with 32gb cards.

Re: updated my vivaz and the memory card has locked. how do i unlock it ?

This problem has been reported several times on this forum and it seems that the only solution is to reformat the card.If you haven't already backed the card up on PC, you may still be able to do this by using a USB memory card reader, which will also enable you to subsequently format the card on PC--make sure you do this in FAT 32 mode.Hope this helps.

Also remember that updating or resetting the phone does not affect the memory card, so there's no need to remove it.

This may be a long shot, but try 0000 this is the default code for all Sony Ericsson handsets.

Re: updated my vivaz and the memory card has locked. how do i unlock it ?

I did try loads of passwords but it could be a number or a word. It wont read it on my computer either. It looks like i will have to buy another card. If this issue has been reported several times befor then shouldnt sony make a note of this on the web page befor you update your phone, as it says that the memory card wont be affected. Also could you tell me if this happens to sony memory cards and will my vivaz work with a 32gb card in it,  thanks

Re: updated my vivaz and the memory card has locked. how do i unlock it ?

Sorry i took time to reply about this but after i got the update and my memory card locked, i kept going on the pc companion and it was saying "generating sense me data" and this took about 2 hours, then all my music was there and my videos. Even though i took the memory card out it managed to still back it up. It didnt back up my pictures or anything else and when i formatted the memory card everything that was in the download folder was still there.
