So, it's another topic about camera experience. We know Sony to have great sensors and bad camera software. Now there's no need to ask Sony to make a better software - the one already exists and its Google Camera with HDR+ and ZSL (zero shutter lag). To use HDR+ we need HAL3 and RAW enabled. HAL3 is a feature that allows 3rd party camera apps to access full Camera2API (manual focus, iso, shutter time and etc). RAW is a feature to capture non-processed images that is needed for HDR+ mode. All these features are by default supported by actual Android versions but in Xperia they are disabled and encrypted with no way for users to unlock them (just a code, the developers just put the variables to the Android script that turn all these features off). Just google how the quality of photos taken with other devices (eg. middle-range Xiaomi MiA1) change when HDR+ is turned on (especially in low-light)! But for Xperia users it's just forbidden by the developers! It's a real violation of customers rights! Please, don't be silent about that, email to Sony via Sony Support! Maybe some of the forumers will push that topic to a higher level?

That would be nice indeed to have more versitility and control over camera drivers by apps, including snapchat and instagram as using these for taking pictures is painfull.

Sony please tell me your justification for not enabling Camera2api. Something that would make your phones a lot better. In Photoshop and Lightroom you can fully manipulate the images, you can only do that with a. dng (raw) file, no with a. Jpg file which makes your phones a bad investment. All the other manufacturers have supported that feature since Android 5 (Lollipop). That fact it is still not supported by Sony in Android 8 (Oreo) beggars belief. One of your chat people has just tried telling me the XZ1 is at the end of its support life, guess I will be going back to Samsung at this rate. Incidentally your Tech Spec page does not list Camera2api as not supported implying that it is, that is totally misleading.

Sony is greedy, they want to make money with a old camera. So will not let user take the best out of it
