@Saquino

Does your mom has the same Xperia as you do? did you bought it from the same store? is any of the phone locked to a carrier/network branded?

You could contact your carrier network as it's up to them to approve and release the update.

@Lorenze @Albertho39

Is or was the phone locked to a carrier network/ SIM locked?

Re: Updating z5 to newer OS

If I contract with another company I only need to change SIM, without doing any other process. It is not blocked, neither SIM nor the operator. It is a free phone and can operate with any operator.

Re: Updating z5 to newer OS

I got in touch and they have not solved anything! There is conflicting information. I was told to restore the software with Xperia Companion, and it did not work. Then they said to talk to my operator, and my operator told me it's Sony thing. I also introduce IMEI on the official Sony page and it appears to me that it is up to date (with the release version, 5.1) But in the rest of the world they have the 6.0 and now the 7. The phone I bought it in my company but free anything else). So I'm just more confused.

the way it works is that Sony release the update BUT if your phone is or was network branded, or bought through a carrier, it will be up to them to approve and release the update or not release it at all, there is an alternative to manually update your phone.

Re: Updating z5 to newer OS

That's why I'm confused. The operator says it's Sony, and Sony says it's the carrier. Supposedly, the phone is free, even if you have bought it through the operator. You do not have operator logos or apps installed. How is the manual form?
