It would be nice if Sony mentioned this as a reason for the late updates and calm people like me down.

Mine has a UK custom software, no connection with any operator. Sony is responsible for the delay in updates. It's a shame

I'm in the UK and know how the release system works and as I've said the networks get the firmware and test so it's upto them to authorise it's release and if it's generic then the networks have to authorise it release as everyone will then go generic meaning networks will loose out on the sale of handsets

Yes but Vodafone is worldwide and going from past firmware releases from them then the same will apply to the UK but why not ring and ask them if the same applies - I do know the same does

There is no way Sony can release a UK update online and let users install at their own?
I'm new to this GSM must pass/fail an update, being a non-UKer. I understand it's their procedure, but it's quite rough to see it available to others elsewhere.

I think Vodafone ! In no European country did the update instead made other major operators: Telekom DE - 23.2.A.0.278, T-Mobile AT,U,CZ - 23.1.A.0.690, O2 DE - 23.1.A.0.690, WIND IT - 23.1.A.0.690, Cosmote GR - 23.1.A.0.690, etc.
