Re: Something went wrong with backup or restore Xperia Companion

if it is possible can you try with another pC? or try different usb ports.

if you have another user account on your pc, can you try to install it on that account?

Re: Something went wrong with backup or restore Xperia Companion

I just had the same problem. Deleted software, and located all files and deleted them (make sure you locate all the Sony files planted from the program and delete them) reinstalled the software, then plugged in again. Didn't work. Restarted the phone, and now it's working. I think the phone restart is the kicker, but refresh all the files to be sure.

I had same problem. Restart of my phone (Xperia Z1 Compact) solved the issue.

Same here, restarting my M4 did the job.

Re: Something went wrong with backup or restore Xperia Companion

Restarting "fixed" for me as well, but why is this even a feature? If backing up takes too long the backup process gets disconnected briefly waiting for me to give permissions again, but instead of allowing me to resume the backup or even start over it gives me a very unhelpful error message like this. Clearly someone over at Sony got lazy when programming this aspect of the PC companion.

Or better yet, stop asking me what I want to use the USB for. If I indicate once that I want to transfer data, why does it ask me randomly every so often? That would also prevent these kinds of problems.
