Bridge for Mac fails to update software on M5 dual

Xperia M5 Dual, used in Malaysia. When connecting to MacBook, BFM (version 4.2.1) says I've got an update, downloads the update and starts process of updating.

But, it fails the moment it comes to "Prepare" screen.

Error: The device could not be prepared for update. Please restart and reconnect your device and try again.

Description: MTP command for flash mode error.

OS: MacOSX (10.11.1)

BFM version: 4.2.1

Current software version: 30.0.B.1.23 (seen on "Start" screen of BFM)

New version: 30.0.B.1.33 (seen on "Start" screen of BFM)

Could you test with a different computer?

@uliwooly,

Yeah, I can try again on my iMac at home... I do not have MS Windows.

Re: Bridge for Mac fails to update software on M5 dual

@uliwooly,

I've done the exact steps on my home iMac and that's what I got:

1. On the phone: Unfortunately, Update service ha stopped.

2. On the BFM: The device could not be found, please follow the connection procedure and try again.

Description: UE error 1006 (Device not found after connection procedure)

Notes:

* Phone has 53% charge

* MacOSX version: 10.11 (iMac)

* BFM version: 4.2.1

If I try again (without disconnecting/reconnecting the phone):

1. On the phone: nothing, no error/warning

2. On BFM: The device could not be prepared for update. Please restart and reconnect your device and try again.

Description: MTP command for flash mode error.

Re: Bridge for Mac fails to update software on M5 dual

I've used different USB cables, including the original cable. No difference. BFM does detect my phone, before and after the errors. I can browse the files on my phone.

The battery has to be at 80%

Re: Bridge for Mac fails to update software on M5 dual

@uliwooly,

Well, I've seen a warning/error message that says battery must be at least 50%. But, I've tried your suggestion (battery was at 97%), still the same... Same error...
