Trouble saving changes to contacts

I am trying to make changes to my existing contacts as well as save new ones but the changes won't save.
For example I went through my contacts and tried to save photos to them, some of them wouldn't save at all, some of them change in the contact or the text message thread but not the contact as a whole and some of them looked like they did save until I went back into my messages and the changes aren't there. I came out of everything and closed the apps down and then went back into my contacts and message thread and nothing has saved.

Which Xperia do you have?

Android version? Build number ( settings > about phone > build number)

Sorry to hear about this issue, it sounds although you may be editing a contact that may be a duplicate or an Online contact, have you made sure to check the filters within contacts?
