Re: Poll needed for the next xperia phone

Fair enough if that's your definition of a "flagship". As long as the high prices and bulky build are reserved for the "flagship" and it keeps the prices of the normal phones down then I'm all for it. I just like to think primarily from a pragmatic user experience point of view, rather than getting too caught-up with the point-scoring of geek specs on a datasheet. (I also don't give a **** what Americans consider essential for their idiosyncratic networks - not being an American and all that)

How exactly does a biometric reader also slow down anything if the technology is perfected to such an extent that it is ergonomically perfect and just works instananeously? No more slide to unlock and then unlock pattern, no more positioning head in box for system that won't work in all light conditions, strengthened security. What is not to like?

Re: Poll needed for the next xperia phone

The Forum Guidelines aren't so hard to understand

Hi Everyone,

Although we have strived to foster an open and  honest community here on the forum, we have recently come to the  conclusion we may have been ignorant to some of the conversation that  has been occurring here.

We entirely respect any discussion you  have concerning the products, services and support we offer, but  beginning today we will begin actively moderatoring user spam, personal  attacks and foul language with the "2 strike rule". We will publically  warn you of any infractions and if we are informed of a second  occurrence, your account will be banned. We define these items as  follows:

1.  User spam - Repeated posting of the same or similar content across  multiple threads. This includes "advertising” or posting of you  dissatisfaction with a product, service or the support from our company.  Please always feel free to post new threads with any concerns you have,  but please keep the conversation in that thread.

2.  Personal attacks - Rude behavior is easily recognized, and will not be  tolerated. This includes to other members, moderators and employees of  Sony Ericsson.

3.  Foul language - Although foul language is made invisible by the  automated profanity filter, it is still not acceptable to post. Attempts  to circumvent the filter will be treated the same.

This  is truly not something we wanted to have happen, but we want this forum  to be a place people are happy to visit, or feel comfortable posting  questions and comments. We hope you appreciate our transparency and  continue to post here as often as you please.

Kind Regards,

Suze

Please also refer to the Revised Guidelines (18/02/11) in Post #2 below.

Re: Poll needed for the next xperia flagship

That's why chasing "flagships" on geek-specs alone is a pointless waste of money for the consumer. There will always be something whose specs are bumped up even higher available 3 months later.

Phones are becoming the same as PCs, where we have more than enough power than we need, and where the machines with the highest processing power are going to become niche.

Re: Poll needed for the next xperia flagship

well, winterstar, since you have started this post, there are some great opinions about the next big thing and some pursuing mid range phones. the million dollar question is, what 6 points going to make the poll?  there are some amazing ideas out there. so i was thinking the following

with being reasonable the questions should be like:

Processor, 1 - processor, deficient and fast

2 - Dual processor, not so efficient and little more pricey, small bump in performance.

3 - More than dual, with high prices less deficiency and bigger sizes.

RAM.1- android is not windows it only needs 512 mb ram

2- 1 GB of ram is a little more, and thats what i want

3 - the bigger the happier i would be.

Screen Size A-  anywhere between 3.5 - 4.0 inches

                   B - Anywhere between 4.1 - 4.6

                   C - anywhere between 4.7 - 5.1

Weight..  A, B, C,

Style 1- Thin and beautiful like the ARC

2- big and bulky, like the motorolas

3 - unique where its comfortable in your hand and stylish

Body material, 1 Carbon

                       2 Plastic

                      3 Metal

                      4 Mix

do you care about gorillas glass? A yes

                                                 B NO

                                                 C what is gorilla glass

Security feature 1 - Eye, finger scanner

2 - Can't weight for the Face Unlock

                        3 - Boring passwords

4 - i don't care as long as its fast

are you frustrated about the the existence of A - international versions

                                                                 B - American versions

C - it does not matter, 1 phone works every where

How much would like to have NFC in your phone? 1 dont care 10 won't bye without

Date speed 1 - E

                   2 - 3G

                  3 - 4G, with sacrificing battery efficiency by i don't know

how are you going to buy your next phone? A - carrier

                                                               B - Ulocked

would you like your phone to connect to A - PS3

                                                           B - PC more important

C i want it to connect effortless to all SONY products

what do you consider a reasonable time for a new update to come to your phone a 1 month

                                                                                                                   b 2 months

                                                                                                                   C 3 months

in General, you care more about Speed over battery life

                                                 Battery of speed

From 1 - 10 how important is it to have dual cameras?

well you get the point, that way almost all ideas can be put here and have people just cranking numbers Slightly smiling Face that way you give most of the ideas a chance and have customer + fan participation Slightly smiling Face

Re: Poll needed for the next xperia flagship

Okay, Now I list the suggestions from above in the following points and categorise them by feature because I don't think we can have a poll for every feature

The are the features to vote for in the next xperia flagship

1. Cutting edge performance : Fast processor [> 1.6 GHz dual core or quad], Lots of RAM [1.5GB] and Internal Storage [ 4GB ROM]

2. Ultimate Multimedia experience : Great Graphics [e.g. Adreno 225 ], Brilliant Sound [Walkman], Brilliant Camera [12 MP] and HD Display [720 x 1280].

3. Latest Android SW : with unique SE UI [Just a skin to differentiate from the average Joe].

4. Latest Connectivity Features : BT 4.0, LTE, NFC, FF Cam etc wherever applicable

5. Stylish design with premium materials and build quality : Weight, thinness, materials is here.

6. Smart extras : Experience kit with bundled extras and SW

I think most of the points above are covered, Ad style

I think six are listed here as requested by our Mod ... I hope this is the format it is expected.

  • software updates available to ALL PHONES at the SAME TIME, not just nordic countries first then couple of months later the rest of the world but the Americas and then 3-4months later it hits America. We all payed for the same phone, we should all get the updates at the same time w/o having to debrand or flash the phone
  • Global Warranty (http://talk.sonyericsson.com/message/129364#129364)
  • Real commitment from Sony Ericsson to support this phone not "up to" but real support for "AT LEAST 2 YEARS"

1) HD front facing camera (and of course not less than 12mp for the back camera)

2) Carbon fiber body

3) 5in screen HD side to side (w/o thick ugly bars around it or at least make them ultra thin)

4) Quad Core processor

5) 1.5GB of RAM

6) this is HUGE SE should commit to support the phone for 2 years or longer, not just "up to" but a REAL COMMITMENT, so we, users, know that if we buy a SE product it will last for more than a year, and it won't be a maybe

7) Gorilla Glass or Dragontrail

8) OLED or Super AMOLED

9) I think this will make a lot of customers happy

Don't add nor delete any app, in other words don't add other apps that aren't part of Android, BUT make them available on the Android Market to be downloaded later on if the user wants to, same goes for the keyboard, widgets, homescreen, gallery, sound recorder, camera, etc

10) Camera stop compressing the image, it's not ok to have such a low bitrate nor overcompressed pictures

WMC%KU@U34L[1LOYNYV[IML.jpg

11) global phone, if apple can do it, SE can do it better, none of that a & i and cdma versions.

12) software updates available to ALL PHONES at the SAME TIME, not just nordic countries first then couple of months later the rest of the world but the Americas and then 3-4months later it hits America. We all payed for the same phone, we should all get the updates at the same time w/o having to debrand or flash the phone

13) a Global Warranty, Martha said thishttp://talk.sonyericsson.com/message/129364#129364 "One of the biggest reasons there is no global warranty is that not every phone is released worldwide, so we don't want someone to get an Xperia active (in this case), bring it to Australia, and then realize no one in Australia can fix the uni"

this doesn't sound right since SE doesn't have a repair center on each country they sale their products, shipping globaly has gotten quite cheap and shouldn't be a problem to send the phone to a repair center to a near by country that has a repair center

http://talk.sonyericsson.com/message/127737#127737

Issues to be solve ASAP

After few software updates, Sony Ericsson added "new features" BUT they haven't fixed others

1) ambient light sensor

http://talk.sonyericsson.com/message/125881#125881

2) fb updates on the phonebook (I use it sometimes, I want to have the option)

http://talk.sonyericsson.com/message/125277#125277

http://talk.sonyericsson.com/message/125276#125276

3) Housing Crack

http://talk.sonyericsson.com/message/84435#84435

4) the Launcher stops responding when you open many apps or heavy apps like Maps, and some games

http://talk.sonyericsson.com/thread/21753

http://talk.sonyericsson.com/message/123777#123777

5) OVER COMPRESSED PICTURES UGH, THIS REALLY BOTHERS ME, THEY ADDED FEATURES TO THE CAMERA BUT FAILED TO FIX THIS ISSUE

http://talk.sonyericsson.com/message/72838#72838

but Sony provides the same sensor to the icrap and they take full advantage of it and take amazing pictures and videos

this is what we, users, want. and the SE moderators usually send the bugs or what we want to change to the developers and then it might or might not be implemented (usually software), we can only hope

Re: Poll needed for the next xperia flagship

i c, well can you add to the international and american version to be united?  and isnt this pushing away from the point of creating a poll?  i was a bet confused for a second
