unified kernel

Hello,

I notice a "split" in kernel development: the master branch (aosp/LA.BR.1.3.3_rb2.14) is for most devices while the aosp/LA.BF64.1.2.2_rb4.7 branch is mostly for the yukon family.

I understand the reasons for the split (like development for things not possible on all devices like camera), but is this "split" permanent or is one "grand unified kernel" still the main idea/purpose? (even if some things like camera probably never will work on all devices).

update: I found this guide to build Nougat: http://developer.sonymobile.com/build-aosp-nougat-7-0/

It seems the yukon family is also not included here (yet).

Thanks!
