After updating my phone (Z5) to Android 6.0.1, I can't mark my emails as read through the notification bar anymore. Only the options 'delete' and 'reply' are available in the notification bar.
I checked my email settings, and the default notification action is set correctly as 'Mark as read'. But despite these correct settings, I still only see the options 'delete' or 'reply' in the notification bar when I receive an e-mail.

I am trying to test this now but I don't see the notification option you mentioned. Can you please set up your email account in the Gmail app and see if the same thing happens?

You can find the notification option here
Email >> settings >> scroll down to 'General', and here you'll find the option 'Default notification action'. I've added 3 screenshots.
Gmail doesn't have this option.
I used to be able to mark emails as read directly from the notification bar. But since this new update (6.0.1), I can only delete or reply to emails from the notification bar (see screenshot), even if I set the default notification action to 'mark as read'.
I also tried to clear email cache/data, but no success.

Thanks, I tried this. But still no success.

I see. This option is not available in my version of the app, so it might be region specific.
Just to confirm, if you swipe the notification away, does it mark it as read in your inbox?

I have the same problem, I upgraded my xperia Z5 Compact to 6.0.1 and even though I have my option set to "mark as read" all I get from the notification is the delete and reply options.
Does someone know how to fix this?
