Re: xperia z1 touchscreen problems

It's easy to believe that something 'fixes' the problem, because the actual issue appears and re-appears at random times (they probably aren't random at all, I am just unaware of the source to say for sure). It kind of seems that it's a hardware issue now, because 4 factory resets, using SUS, updating to the latest FW, or anything else that is software-related doesn't work.

I will be sending my phone back to the retailer for repair (hopefully replacement), but I will likely wait until after the holidays, because if I give it now it will probably be given back to me in at least a month and a half. I am afraid that they might 'fix' the issue by doing factory resets, or a complete rom flush, since it's already quite clear that it's a hardware issue. This is another life lesson - people should really put much more effort into researching items before buying them.

Re: xperia z1 touchscreen problems

I've had auto brightness off since day one, and still encounter this erratic touchscreen behaviour.

The only way I've been able to replicate this issue (although not the case for others with this issue) is when I'm using my Z1 for extended stretches of time, such as browsing, reading, playing games, or after I watch a movie. Most of time when I experience this issue, the phone feels very warm, however I've also experienced this issue a couple of times when the phone was cool.

When the problem does start, it's annoying as heck but thankfully it doesn't occur that frequnetly, at least for me. I have since bought a flip case for my Z1 so will update everyone on whether this helps or not.

Yes, kindly update this thread since issue is still not addressed.. I have tried placing my phone in a flip case or a plastic and still the problem persists..

Re: xperia z1 touchscreen problems

The same thing happened EVERY time when I put it in water with the screen on, was not knowing this untill I went to water park with family and wanted to capture the moments we share, although it has a separate shutter button but the screen keep recognize the water as a touch and going crazy like zoom in and out at random spot or cancel the camera etc.
Is the screen too sensitive?
Doesn't taking photo is the phone's specialist? It can't be done if the touch screen being like that.

Re: xperia z1 touchscreen problems

That is normal since the screen will behave badly if there is water on it.

In our case, screen refuses to register touches when flat on a surface and when in hand especially gaming.

This happens due to prolonged touch on the screen. This also happens even if not. Screen has no dead spots. It just fails to register the touch most of the time.

Re: xperia z1 touchscreen problems

The method of reproduce the touch screen problem is established. Confirm it!
1. Turn on your display and wake app like the paintsoft.

2.Put your Z1 onto a insurated one, like rubber sheet and your Z1 must be naked.(without any cases)

3.Wait 30sec or more.

4.Drow a line, and during drowing, touch the side panel. Side panel should be touched left side and right side by two fingers. and cover of microUSB port and sim port should not be touched.

5.For 70-80%, You can reproduce the problem.

The movie is here
http://youtu.be/CeAw17LrdKE

This problem may be caused by bad insurating.
But I don't know this problem is occurred in all Z1s.
This problem of touch panel can be occurred variable timings.
People who playing games or using patern lock will recognize this problem easily. but difficult for who Not playing games or Not using patern lock.

This method can detect the potential error of your Z1 it looks no problem.

Please test your Z1. and if the problem is reproduced, you should go to store and make a claim!
and replaced one if you get, please re-test and report here

Re: xperia z1 touchscreen problems

We want a fix for this issue. Sony already gave the Z the camera apps of Z1. I thought it was an exclusive. Now it's time for them to bring bug fixes to Z1
