experia s with UK we account can't get signal in Nepal

I am in Nepal and I can't connect to the local network. If I try to switch to the manual search doesn't work. It switches back to automatic. The network in Nepal is NCell. My operator EE can't help. Any ideas?

Is your phone network locked to find out if you are then dial *#*#7378423#*#* then on the window that pops up navigate to Service  info then SIM lock - If any of the options have anything after the titles other than a 0 then your phone is locked and you will need an unlock code to use on other networks
