this is driving me nuts, I have had latley problems with the phone (5.0.2 I hate that verson, give me back 4.4.2) so when I reset it, the pictures I have take are saved again from DSC_0001.jpg, so no way of me knowing where the one I want is located once I moved them to my PC's HDD, plus I have to rename them.
I find that having the file names in date order makes it much more easier to store/search them.
Is there after some many posts over here a solution (in sucha a advanced phone / OS) so taht the phone stores pictures taken in "date" format YYYY-MM-DD-xxxx.jpg
YYYY - year
MM - month
DD - day
xxxx- sequence number
like I'm used from my old Nokia N8 (Default image name - Date or Text)
or the Samsung S4 ( YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS + Contextual filename - On)?

As far as I know it's not possible to change the way the built in camera names the files. It might be possible if you're using some 3rd party app for the camera but I'm not sure.
I will however forward your feedback internally.

That info is stored as META data and if you open the images on your phone would appear depending on view style in date order or if on your Pc then select to view by date modified

thank you for your reply I appretiate that you have taken time to read and reply to my post.
I like things simple, henc the reason that I mention compettitors like the Nokia (not really now, but it used to be) / Samsung.
They have naild it! Spot on, no messing around!
My TV does not allow me to view the pictures by META data, anyway what do you exactly mean the metadata (which one)?

Thank you for you time reading and replying to my post.
-1 for Sony Experia +1 for Samsung from me.
You have been around for a while by the ammount of post you have, so if you could, that be great (thank you), in your personal opinion:
- You may know, how highly likly it is that it will change?
- Would anyone from the 0.01% of people who can change it even look at it or would it be question of cost and therefore Sony trying to save every yen will not even consider it?
- Have past requests from users been listend to? If so do you have an example/s?
