Xperia T - Windows XP SP3 Driver

I am unable to get my XT working with PCC in Windows XP SP3. Sony say that only Win XP SP2 is supported. Is there anywhere I can get a driver from?

An error occurred during the installation of the device - a service installation section in this inf is invalid.

Re: Xperia T - Windows XP SP3 Driver

It should work. Have you tried to reinstall PCC? IF the computer can't assign the drivers automatically you can try to do it manually via device manager.

Are you running on Win XP 64bit? Because that OS is not supported unfortunately.

Re: Xperia T - Windows XP SP3 Driver

Hi Johan

32 bit OS

have reinstalled PCC

was told below by Sony

any suggestions to resolve issue?

You have now been connected to an agent.

Aimee: Hi Steve, thank you for

contacting Sony Xperia UK Chat Support. My name is Aimee, please could I take

your full name and email address?

steve : pcc installed on win xp

sp3. attempting to connect xt to pc via usb cable phone not installing

: any tips

Aimee: I'm sorry to hear that. Do you know what USB

connection mode the handset is in?

steve : no

steve : its

ok when connecting to win 7

Aimee: Okay, you can check by going to Settings

Connectivity > USB connection Mode.

steve : media

transfer mode mtp

steve : i have not changed from default settings

Aimee: Okay that mode should be fine. Have you tried plugging the handset

into a different USB port?

steve : yes

Aimee: Okay, unfortunately

Windows XP Service Pack 3 is not listed as being fully supported by PC Companion

(the requirements only state Windows XP Service Pack 2) so it is possible that

you may experience some connectivity issues.

Aimee: What are you wishing to

connect the handset to the PC for?

steve : tranfer data

Aimee: Is

this data such as media files like pictures, videos etc?

steve : yes

Aimee: Okay, if you change the connectivity mode to Mass Storage, you may be

able copy and paste the files you wish to transfer by using My Computer on your

Aimee: You can change the connectivity mode by going to Settings >

Xperia > USB connection Mode > MSC Mass Storage.

Aimee: You will need

to remove and reinsert the USB cable to do this.

steve : same

steve : shows lt30p with exclamation mark in device manager

Aimee: If you have the exclamation mark, you would need to right click this

and select Update Driver.

steve : where do i point it to

You just click the Automatic option when you are updating the driver.

: an error occured during the installation of the device

Aimee: Okay,

unfortunately it sounds like the PC is unable to install the relevant drivers in

order to use the handset.

steve : a service installation section in

this inf is invalid

Aimee: It may be due to the slight incompatibility if

the handset is working fine on another PC running a fully supported operating

steve : is there a seperate driver pack i can download from

steve : seems odd that sp2 is supported, but not sp3

: should be the other way around

Aimee: There's no seperate drivers

you can install I'm afraid as the only drivers we have are what are

automatically installed when you download PC Companion.

Aimee: As SP3 isn't

listed within PC Companion, we wouldn't have drivers available for this

operating system through PC Companion. We can only suggest trying the different

methods we've went through above to try and get the handset recognised by My

Computer rather than PC Companion but if this does not work, it could simply be

due to the OS.

Aimee: As I have not heard from you for a while, I will be

disconnecting this chat. Should you require any further assistance, please feel

free to contact us again. Thanks for using Sony Xperia UK Chat support. Goodbye
