Question about Rooting

I wanna root my device. Now i am on Build Number: 6.1.1.B.1.10. I have some Question about rooting?

1) Do i need to unlock Bootloader for rooting my device?

2) Is rooting is risky for my device?

3) What is the main advantage of rooting?

Thank You Slightly smiling Face

Re: Question about Rooting

1) NO

          Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460

2) depends on what you do. Don't try to mess up with system files, unless you know exactly what you're doing. Be aware of apps you give root access.

3) You can overcome the disadvantages of stock rom.

These are the things I did with my rooted phone:

  • Changed gps server to my country, to get faster gps locks
  • make better use of led bar, with LUC, and U-disco
  • installed Font for my native language, which was originally not installed.
  • Uninstall bloatware
  • Installed SD-mounter to use internal memory as mass storage (much easier to manage files) mode, instead of MTP(only method provided for file transfer)
  • installed avast-antitheft with hard reset proof by providing root access.

Additionally:

you can install CWM recovery and install other roms easily.

Or you can use many MODS which replace the preinstalled system apps and give better funtionality.

Re: Question about Rooting

it's good because you can unroot the device never letting anyone that you have rooted the device(can use your warranty without problems). If you unlock bootloader, you may void warranty.

Read this for further details:http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/

The method I suugested above worked for me without problems. you don't need to do any thing special unless your device is not being detected.

Note:

  • turn on usb debugging and unknown sources
  • run the programme as administrator

Video tutorial:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33470626#post33470626

this is for the same method mentioned above., procedure is from (2:50)
