I've researched this topic a bunch, gone through a bunch of Reddit, XDA, and read all the related posts here as well.
My Xperia Z5 Compact (E5823) had a very hit-or-miss fingerprint sensor, especially after upgrading to 6.0. So I did what others suggested and used FlashTool to flash the upgrade for a clean install. I used the right FTF.
Now however, I am unable to add fingerprints. When I touch the sensor to add a fingerprint, it never vibrates and the circle never progresses. When I go into Service Tests > Fingerprint Sensor, it says Fingerprint Sensor is OK, so the hardware is alright.
I was wondering if anyone has a fix for this. Thank you.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion. I've tried adding it in Safe Mode, as well as reflashing multiple different FTFs from different regions and both doesn't work

did you make a backup of your original firmware? the one that came with the phone? try to flash that
I did have a problem with my finger reader previously, but I learned that if you register a certain part of the fingerprint it would work 9 out 10 tries. its just the matter of the prints on the fingers that the reader on the device is having problem with.,

try ftf found here https://xpericheck.com/
and try to post at XDA fourm where more people knowledgeable about flashing would be able to help you

I've tried the FTF there and asked around at XDA. I believe the issue I am having has nothing to do with flashing, because I've never unlocked my bootloader or rooted and my DRM keys are still intact. Also, I am on the right software for my phone. Thank you though
