Install the drivers mate
Go to C:/ > flashtool > drivers > flashmode drivers > install
If that doesn't work then use this version of flashtool

I had relocked the bootloader and it worked ... updated to 4.0.4...
Before I go ahead, I want to clear something.. Earlier user soumikray posted:
Thnx again for the guide. Last time I rooted GB with ur help. This time I rooted ICS .587 with ur help. Just 1 thing I wud like to mention here, at the xda page of doomlord there is a list as follows:
Before u begin:
"In between point 4 & 5, there should be a mention that u need to connect the usb cable while pressing the back button of your phone."
A lot of people who are not so experienced, they just connect the phone normally & the rooting toolkit doesnt work. Thought it wud help people so I mentioned it here.
Do I need to hold the back button while connecting the phone for rooting ... it didn't work? The rooting procedure has failed yet again. I think I'm missing something but dunno what. the steps I have taken:
1) Unlocked bootloader through Android SDK (again.....)
2) Downloaded flashtool 0.9 and installed the drivers(windows 8 procedure).
3) Flashed the device in flashmode (volume down button for Ray) using your link: http://www.4shared.com/file/QSM6uqPU/ST18i_41A0562_kernel.html
4) rooted through dommlord v4 ,,,, this step failed yet again...!!!!
Did I miss a step ... ?

creptil Nopes , you don't have to hold any button while connecting.
I've updated few lines in the guide now.
OMG , creptil Why why why aren't you following the steps correctly mate ?
You've to use the toolkit for ICS. v4 is for GB, V1 is for ICS, see the first page again, in the step 4 download link has been given.
Please follow the instructions carefully

- hice el downgrade (flashing) al kernel Lt18i 4.1.A.0.562
- luego el proceso de root y
- al final el upgrade al kernel que tenia originalmente LT18a 4.1.B.0.587
