Nabeel, Thank you very much!!
ALL DONE!! right
I have a Xperia Arc S LT18a 4.1.B.0.587
- first, I flash the LT18i 4.1.A.0.562 kernel
- then I run the rooting toolkit and
- finally I flash the original LT18a 4.1.B.0.587 kernel
All perfect, without any error.
I download the LT18a 4.1.B.0.587 kernel from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889221

I flashed my phone(step before using rooting toolkit) and on start up i get a blank black screen
When I proceeded to use rooting toolkit, It said
"Daemon started succesfully"..as the last sentence and remained that way for 1 hr.So. I quit the toolkit and restarted it.
Now the rooting toolkit wont even detect mt phone with "WAITING FOR DEVICE" as the last line.
Please help,My phone cant even startup.

so if the rooting kit finished and said "all done" does that mean l'am rooted now ?? i tried to install some apps that need rooting privilge but didnt work !!!! the build number still 4.1.b.0.567
(my device is xperia arc s )

Goldenstarc That build could not be rooted directly, you'll have to downgrade to another build and then root it.
So you want steps for that.
edwinfer Oh oh,I thought you asked questions, but not
Anyways for your info, "a" and "i" have same kernels, no difference
thegrinreaper No worries.
Assuming you used 0.9.8 Version of flashtool, did you close it before running the rooting toolkit ?
That error is usually because of flashtool running. Anyways, take the battery out, reinsert it and switch it on, close flashtool and pc companion, connect your phone, wait for a minute and then run the rooting toolkit. If that doesn't work , just flash with .587 kernel and your device will start working. you can try rooting again later.
hishamoo222 You didn't read the guide carefully mate, did you ?
See if any app superuser has been installed on your phone.
If not then again go with the rooting procedure, read carefully and then apply the steps

Thanks for the quick reply
I used 0.9.10.1 as it was the Version the link redirected me to.
I redid the whole procedure. The rooting pauses indefintely at "Daemon started sucessfully".
This time flashtool was closed for sure.

Uninstall the version you have and install this one, then do rooting.

Tried it out with the driver from this link also, same results as before : "daemon started sucessfully" is the last line followed by indefinite pause.

thegrinreaper You're missing something ,
Try doing all the steps correctly (Mark correct settings in phone), use the linked version of flashtool.
Do it once again, other wise try on other PC. It might be a problem with the PC.
