bqzhang You never posted any errors or problems you faced so that i could have helped you with it.

My method is different. In involves flashing a new firmware .42 and rooting it via zergrush toolkit. Then upgrade via OTA

so did you do that ?

zcacogp Oh no Oli, i think ( No i'm sure ) you pasted this list from settings > apps > all

But I asked you from system/ apps/

It must have taken a lot of time to write. Slightly frowning Face

dev-v flash another 0.62 firmware from my guide.

Then you'll get the ICS update through pc companion

Fabius There is no jelly bean firmware for LLive With walkman.

However if you wish, you can unlock the bootloader and flash several jelly bean roms Slightly smiling Face

Re: {GUIDE} How to Install Jelly Bean , ICS ( Ice Cream Sandwich) and Gingerbread on Xperia™ Smartphones, as well as root them

Hi Nabeel,

I finally give up on rooting my ray st18i after so many attempts

Dont know whats wrong Slightly frowning Face

Here's what i did:

1. unlock BL using testpoint method

2. flashed kernel version 4.1.A.0.562 on my latest ICS 4.1.B.0.587 using flashtool

3. used doomlord's runme.bat as rooting toolkit.

4. when file execution is finished, error says read-only file system.

5. Tried root method in flashtool but no luck.

So after all attempts, flashed kernel 4.1.B.0.587

Anything missed?

dev-v No probs Slightly smiling Face

sourabh Alright, go for a older version of flashtool, new version seems to be a bit buggy

Use this http://www.4shared.com/file/ByOxNqzM/flashtool-0980-windows.html

Uninstall the present flashtool from your PC. and install this one,.

Then start everything fresh

Re: {GUIDE} How to Install Jelly Bean , ICS ( Ice Cream Sandwich) and Gingerbread on Xperia™ Smartphones, as well as root them

Hi sourabh,

As Nabeel says, I think you need to use an older version, but I did not use Flashtool to root, I used Doomlord's easy rooting toolkit, but I could only root with v1 - when I tried with v4, I had the same problem as you - no root! It seems counter-intuitive:

Android 2.3 root = DooMLoRD_v4

Android 4.0 root = DooMLoRD_v1

... But that's how it worked for me!

So my suggestion is to download v1 of Doomlord's easy rooting toolkit (DooMLoRD_v1_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su.zip) which is linked to here:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321582

Hopefully that, or Nabeel's solution, will work for you.

Pete

Re: {GUIDE} How to Install Jelly Bean , ICS ( Ice Cream Sandwich) and Gingerbread on Xperia™ Smartphones, as well as root them

I used DooMLoRD_v1 only but no luck.

I tried root option in flashtool itself but no luck.

So giving a try to what Nabeel has advised.
